Sorry I've been absent a couple days, its been a rollar coaster. Dad has been sruggling to breath, so he had an oxygen madk that he absolutely hated, but today the have it up the nose. Oxygen better today but I think the ng tube is annoying him because of both being in there. He's been running a fever, but no signs of infection. I requested a Ct scan be done but being a Sunday I imagine I can't get that accomplishef till Monday. We are shocked, he never had lung problems and now its mucos that keeps building and since he can't cough it up on his own they go down and get it Other than the lungs and fever the surgeon said everything is excellent in regards to esphogecomy procedure. Were happy about that, however ill celebrate after the swallow test proves success. This surgeon is phenominal, it makes me feel secure because he really cares. Laura, what did they do for larry's dry mouth, my dad is throwing first about it. Any tips? I moist a swab and applying to lips but it doesn't seen to be enough.
How's larry feeling? Have you been able to rest?0 -

How's larry feeling? Have you been able to rest? They allowed Larry to have very small ice cubes, 4 per hour starting day 2. Once the ng tube is out they allowed more, Im sorry your dad is having such a difficult time with breathing, The man next to Larry had the same problem, The docs are serious when they say this is rough on the respiratory system. Larry was so very conditioned before surgery and he still is getting short winded, This in time will improve for your dad as well, Is there a spirometer in his room? If so you need to make him use it, every hour a few times! Larry. Is very dehydrated, he looks very weak and bp is so low. I believe that he will be re admitted tomorrow. Wishing you comfort and prayers.

Oh no, I hate to hear that about Larry. However I know dehydration isn't something to mess with. Dad isn't allowed any ice they said they don't want him to accodently swallow. 7 days now, but I guess really 3 since he wasn't awake on the 1st 4 days. Hope he can drink something soon. I will continue to pray for larry, let me know what happens tommorrow.
