Jx594 clinical trial
my husband started this triahey yesterday. He will continue it for who're weeks then he will get scanned in 8weeks. We will let you know how it works out. The side effects were rough for about 10 hours. I have typed this five time on the iPad and each time I correct something it all erases and I have to reconnect hop it's supposed to say clinical trial and he has four more weeks I swear this thing adds nonsense words.

Hi Erin:
Glad to see you posting. It has been a while. I didn't realize your husband was on a clinical trial. Sorry, I don't know anything about this trial but please keep the board informed. Good or bad, the information is valuable. If you don't mind my asking, what happened that he is on a clinical trial. If memory serves, he was doing quite well, but, again, it has been a while and I have not been on the board much since losing George.
Wishing you the best - Tina

He is still doing well and has other options but this trial looked promising. He has experienced some wicked side effects that I hadnt planned on. It is a small pox virus iv form. Requires one night stay in hospital, but has helped with other cancers . It's genetically modified though. If you look it up there is a lot of info

Hi Erin
Was it difficult to get accepted into this trial? What hospital is treating him? Large, well known cancer centre? It does look promising.
Chelseawe are at osu. If you go to clinical trials.gov it might tell you what hospitals are accepting patients For that Trial

We had high hopes that this drug would be tolerable since my husband was in good condition and hadn't had any prior treatment for about three months, but it didn't work out that way. He was miserable for about 9 days unable to eat, in bed the whole time, ran a fever, broke out in major sweats soaking everything, but somehow managing to go to work. Around the 8th day he broke out with postules all over his head in his mouth hands and feet. Since we have a 11 month old he wasn't allowed to have contact with her and he avoided holding our four year old as well. Given the side effects he decided to stop the clinical trial. His liver is enlarged and bilirubin is elevated, so we are going to see what is going on with that on Thursday. I just wanted all of you to know it was out there. We weren't expecting the side effects to be such an @!! kicker. The best medicine for him is being able to hug and kiss our two girls so hopefully he feels better soon. Once we get a scan I can let you know if there was any effect.
I am on my computer so I am able to type a bit better. JX 594 was a modified small pox virus called vaccinia which has shown a lot of promise with liver cancer. That is why he had to avoid contact with us. Although unlikely to spread they couldn't promise it wouldn't. During the trial they took 47 vials of blood over his 23 hour observation period. It was definitely very detailed. While in the hospital his fever was 105.7. It was amazing how the side effects kicked in exactly four hours after administering the drug.
