18 months post-op

I had my 18 month post-op CT scan on Tuesday, and just got back from picking up the radiologist report: NED!!! Smile  I know it's only been 18 months, but does the scanxiety ever go away? I opened the envelope as I was walking down the hall from Medical Records, and when I read the last line: "Negative finding for recurrence or metastatic disease" I had to sit down and collect myself.

    Awesome!
    Hi Bob,

We know exactly how you feel, like floating. You are on a 6 month scan schedule right? We just met with Jeff's surgeon and he thinks he should move to 6 month scans. Jeff is happy about that, but it makes me a little nervous. I guess nerves go hand in hand with this disease.

Congrats on the scan I wish you many many more,

    NED

So happy to hear your NED results!  That is great news.  My husband is just a few months further along than you and in June will have his 30 Months scans.....no scanxiety doesn't go away, from what I can tell.  He was also a T1aN0M0 that "just" had surgery (no chemo or rad).  So I follower your post pretty closely, due to the similarities.

    Congrats Bob!

It is good news, Bob!   I just had a three year NED check up. And, NO, scanxiety does not go away!

    Scan schedule

    Hi Niki:

Yes: I had a scan a 3 months and 6 months, then went to a 6 month schedule so at 1 year & 18 months.  I’ll have another at 24 months, then the surgeon said we could go to annual until 5 years, at which point if all goes well he’ll consider me “cured” and no more monitoring will be required.  I’m not comfortable with that right now, but we’ll see.

You’re certainly right that nerves go along with this beast.  Other than the eating and digestive issues that we deal with as they come up, I’m at the point now where I always know I have cancer, but it doesn’t bother me too much – it’s just part of my life.  But every time I go in for a scan, and at the follow-up appointments with the surgeon, it’s a reminder and I don’t like it, and I get very emotional and can’t wait to get out of there.  Oh well…

    Congratulations-No,

Congratulations-No,  scanxiety doesn't go away. Even after five years ,I have it before any test. Will have anther  CT in January. After that, I know I will see my oncologists  once a year from now on, But I'm not sure what for. When he told me I was cured, I told him I wasn't ready to leave him. He said I wouldn't. It was great news for me.
