I had a GBM removed in April of 2011, and a clean PET scan in July of 2012. So, yes, I'm proving you can beat brain cancer!!!

My husband had lung cancer that spread to the brain. Had surgery to remove the brain tumor January 27, 1999. Then radiation to the brain and to the lung. Then he underwent Physical Therapy and began walking, driving again (had weakness in the right side, like a stroke victim) He fell and broke his right hip in December that year, so now walks with a walker.

    Does anyone survive brain cancer?
I had surgery on March 31st to remove a 2cm GBM stage 4 tumor. On the same day, I had a disc in my neck fused. Double your pleasure, double your fun! The warning signs consisted of excruciating headaches, draggging my left leg slightly when I walked and dropping things with my left hand. Prior to all of this, I didn't even have a primary care doctor because I never got sick. I am 53 years old and I have exercised religiously for 39 years. I have also eaten pretty well although since my diagnosis, I have dramtatically changed my diet. Today, almost 5 months later, after 42 days of radiation and chemo and now, regimens of 5 days of chemo every 28 days, I go for my first MRI to see if anything shows up. The doctor was able to remove all of my tumor which was located just above my right ear. As far as my condition goes, I have only experienced slight fatigue from the chemo but I still go to the gym at 5:00 a.m. so I can only say the fatigue is slight. Overall, I feel great. My wife keeps me on a great regimen of green drinks, no sweets, foods that fight inflamation in the body and high in Omega 3's. You also need adequate exercise and strong mental well being. My faith in God is stronger than ever and I can't stress this enough. At this stage right now, I think my condition is nothing less than a miracle. I prayed like crazy and accepted the fact that if my time on this Earth is through, I'm completely at peace with that. If I still have something important to do and my time is not through, I'm not going to waste one minute of the time God has given to me. I am completely sincere in my heart and all I want to do is God's will. This disease was too much for me to handle so I decided to give it all to God. God will not give us more than we can bear without providing us a way out and an outcome far greater. This is what I'm believing and hanging onto so combine that with exercise and strong nutrition and I truly believe this is the cure; at least for today. Today is all any of us has anyway. We are all going to die and we don't know when. This cancer is just a subtle reminder to that fact.
