Anti-Ovarian Cancer Diet
The diet in this article appears to be a 'catch-all' for a variety of cancers, and not one that is specific to ovarian. Although some of the advice regarding various foods are beneficial for, say breast cancer or prostate cancer or ovarian cancer, some of the information can be detrimental for ovarian cancer patients. There just is no one single diet that will address all cancers.
My experience has been that, for ovarian cancer, which is typically fed by carbs and sugars, the best diet plan for us is a modified Paleo diet. This diet includes lots of vegetables, preferably 9 cups a day (3 cups of leavy greens, 3 cups of cruciferous, 3 cups of colored veggies), but staying away from starchy veggies, like white potatoes. Animal protein, from grass-fed AND grass-finished animals, wild game, pastured poultry, or wild caught fish. Eggs from pastured chickens. No hormones or antibiotics in the animal protein sources. Healthy fats, from coconut oil, fish, pasture butter, olive oil, avacado oil, and raw dairy items from grass fed animals, and raw nuts. Only low sugar fruits and in small quantities. And no sweeteners, except stevia and xylitol. Red meat is only advisable if the individual has a normal ferratin (serum iron) level, and adequate hydrochloric acid and intrinsic factor to digest the meat properly. This diet is devoid of grains, sugars and legumes, which all turn to glucose in our system.
My naturopath has experimented with a variety of diets, including vegetarian and vegan. As an ovarian cancer survivor herself, her CA-125 has stayed lower and more stable on the Paleo diet than on any other she has tried.
