If you can't eat popcorn
I searched for this info because I knew I'd seen it here but didn't want to respond because everyone except the op has since died. Kim (Annabelle41415) posted in 2009......
Kim Posted: If you can't eat popcorn because of an ileostomy/colostomy, diverticulitis, or for whatever reason, the following is a good substitution. My son mentioned it yesterday and I had forgotten all about it. You put some butter in the bottom of a pan (or margarine - I use the spray "I can't believe it's not butter" because it has no calories, or anything else). Put some Cheerios in pan so they are lightly coated with the butter/margarine, but not soggy. It take more Cheerios than you think. Fry them until they become crispy and add a little salt to taste (they will become really small when they are done). Yummy they are so good. I could eat the whole box.
If anyone tries it let me know what you think.
Hugs! Kim

With some diverticular pouches, my gastro has not allowed me to eat Popcorn for the last few years. It's sooooooo hard because I love popcorn and used to eat it almost every night. Thanks Kim!

Funny
Was just thinking about those yesterday when seeing them in the cupboard. Usually I've got a container made all the time even when I'm able to eat popcorn now. Have you tried them - they are delicious. Thanks for bringing this post up again. It's a good reminder for those that can't eat popcorn yet want something similar. Heck they should start making these at the theaters

I, too, had forgotten about it....
Thanks for bringing it to the front!!!! And thank you, Kim, for the excellent receipe!
(I was told by my gastric surgeon that the only thing I could never, ever have again was popcorn. He said "It would be for you like eating broken glass". So, of course, I needed a test...at Disneyland, where it smelled soooooo good, I had ONE handful. Lesson learned...NO MORE POPCORN!!!!!)
Hugs, Kathi

I just ate popcorn, we're
I just ate popcorn, we're about to find out! lol The only way to know it is to try it. I chewed it very well. After I did well with corn, I figured eh, I'll give this a try. I've been hooked on the stuff for years, it would be hard to give up. At least I know there's a substitute and I do love Cheerios.

How are you feeling, Helen? I guess if you feel like eating, you must be feeling some better. Hope so.0
