Glioblastoma help and advice pretty please
My grandaddy has been diagnosed with this illness, it is currently 4.19am in the morning here in the UK
I am physically exhausted. My grandad came back a few days ago from hospital, some days he is compus mentum but at night at silly hours he wakes up and I usually calm him down and send him back to bed but tonight there was gas and eggs all over the kitchen floor, good job I smelt it.
I was wondering, if the tumour has been taken out and the radiotheraphy has hidden the tumour as there are no signs of the tumour on the m.r.i scans then why is he acting funny?

Its hard to say for sure whats causing his problem... It could be a few things, I dont know where the tumor was but unfortunately sometimes there are some changes in behavior after the tumor is removed and causes damage to that area of the brain... and it could also be the meds... My husband hasnt been crazy or silly, but the meds make him mean, and he will yell at anyone for no reason at all, we have been lucky so far and he has been great with the kids... but not me or his mom, we get the worst of it. He had a different type of tumor and his was in the right side of his brain where the doctor had told us there was not much to damage in that area... If you are really concerned about his behavior I would suggest you call his doctor and they can definately give you some answers. Our doctor has been great and we have had to call several times. Its very scary watching someone you love go through this. I wish you the best and I hope you get some answers, its hard not knowing whats going on...

The tumor has caused a lot of brain damage his is in the right frontal lobe of the brain. He gets aggressive, violent and confused a lot of the time. He often thinks my mother is still alive and his wife and it is all so heartwrenching. His bloods where tested for demencia but he does not have it. The doctors said he will just get worse and worse, they often say I should just put him in a home as I am too young to take on such a big resposnsibility but He is the only family I have and my biggest regret in my life is not being around when my mother died.
I guess, I joined this website because I don't wanna feel alone none of my friends understand so it is just me by myself. The doctor has provided me with anti psychotics and sedatives because his behaviour is irratic and he needs them.
I fear for my safety everyday and his too. Thanks for replying.

I understand your fears, with the behavior the way it is, hopefully the meds will help... I dont want to say what you should or should not do, because its not my place, you should always trust your own instincts, but I will say that it is not a bad thing if you do get help for him or put him in a home, especially if you are worried about his safety.. You can still see him all the time, but he will have extra help, but if you want to keep him at home, that is totally understandable, its a hard decision... I wish you the best and hope some meds help with this problem...
