D & C..Biopsy Results
Hello All!
After bleeding for almost 2 months I went to the ER. Turns out my uterine lining was 20 mm thick. On Friday I had a D & C. My GYN said I should have the results by Wednesday. Does this sound about right? Doing research I see where people have to wait way longer than that. As you can all imagine, I am concerned and waiting too long will drive me crazy.
Thank you

I got a call today with my results. Office person said: the doctor would like you to come in to talk about the results. So I asked when. She says: Tomorrow. So i say: Well if its good news then I will go tomorrow , but if it's bad I won't wait. So she said I have no cancer cells. Thank God. I have to say that reading all the boards really have touched me. Maybe a bit angry that people have to go through all this. If we can only find a cure. If we could have better Healthcare that would allow people to go to doctors more often. My prayers are with all of you.

Hi Lillie,
Your experiece has given me hope. My mother is 92 (you can see our post on this site too) and she also had bleeding and thickening of uterus lining, how thick they didin't tell us and they did a biopsy just over a week ago. The doctor was very negative during the examination and didn't really want to even do a biopsy due to her age. Well, mom flew through he biopsy and today we called and found out the tissue taken was normal. However, the doctor wants to do another biopsy and take more tissue. We don't know whether to do another biopsy or just be grateful for the normal testing and not think about it again. But then I worry about what caused the bleeding. Did your doctor give you any other reasons that could account for the bleeding. Mom bled for about 4 days and then only spotting accasionally since this began on Jan 31st. I know everyone is different but any shared info on what can cause this besides cancer would be appreicated. The hope you have given is that someone can have these symtoms and it still not be cancer. Now we have to decide whether or not to do another biopsy.
My best to you,
Darlene

Congratulations! I got the nes about D&C in 7 days but mine was that I had cancer back in 2011. In your case it could be just fibroids or something else. It is good to get it checked out. trish

I also had an in the office biopsy two years ago in 2011 for bleeding and it showed nothing cancerous. A year later bleeding again and this time D&C and it showed cancer cells. It is my understanding from my experience that the in the offie biopsy might only take a sample from one spot and a D&C srapes around the entire Uterus. In my situation the only part that was cancerous was a small polyp that apparently the in the office biopsy didn't get. You might want to find out what is step two and why.
now the good news is mine didn't travel much and was staged a 1A.
it is also my understanding that a polyp can cause bleeding as well as a fibroid. They sometmes can see this in an internal ultrasound that there is something there. That is what happened in year two for me. They saw something that looked like a ployp and than decided to do a d&C to check it out That is when they found some cancerous cells that didn't show up on the in the office biopsy

They did both external and internal ultrasounds on my mother before the biopsy and the doctor didn't say if they saw anyting other than fluid in the uterus. The tech doing the ultra sound said she saw a cyst on an ovary but when I mentioned it to the doctor and ask if that could be the cause of the bleeding she waved it off like it wasn't important. I think from the information I'm hearing here, we probably should do another biopsy. I know that the PA that did do the biopsy went in three times (filled three tubes) to collect tissue. It looked painful, sorta like someone doing lipo, but like I said mom was great throughout the process. I appreciate all of the shared information, it very much helps when trying to figure out what is best to do. I know these are personal chocies but all of your experieces help tremendously. Thank so much!!! Darlene
