    Roll Call

    Happy Hen, aka, Coleen

Diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer, Stage 2, Grade 3

Pre-cancer medical history includes Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Infertility (despite fertility treatments and years of trying), High Blood Pressure, Type II Diabetes, and High Functioning Autism (aka, Asperger's Syndrome)

Total Abdominal Hysterectomy to remove a cantaloupe sized uterus full of tumor, October of 2012

3 internal radiation treatments (I go for my post treatment check up with the radiologist later today)

Am taking arimidex, an aromatase inhibitor, to help keep estrogen that remains even after ovaries were removed from feeding any cancer cells that still remain.   Also metformin for my type II diabetes, and diovan for high blood pressure.

My GYN ONC would like me to do 6 rounds of carboplatin/taxol, but I am unable to do that at this time (long, complicated story, but it's NOT because I'm afraid of chemo)

I'm fighting this thing with careful diet and supplements.  I have lost 39 pounds since my diagnosis in September (slow, controlled weight loss, about 1 to 1 and a half pounds per week, every week).   My A1c (measure of one's average blood sugar) is down to 5.2, and my blood pressure and chloesterol are also improving significantly as I loose weight.

Supplements I take include curcumin, CO-Q-10, quercetin, maitake mushroom (d fraction) in tablet form, milk thistle (for the liver), chlorella (for general detoxification), raw calcium with magnesium, vitamin D, and vitamin K (to help keep the arimidex from causing loss of bone density), resveratrol, probiotics (both a general probiotic, and also one that is especially formulated for vaginal health), green tea supplement, and a whole food based multi-vitamin.

And I'm blessed to have one of the best GYN ONCs on this planet, IMHO !

I'm currently N.E.D., almost six months after my hysterectomy.
