Chemo is OVER
Happy news. I finished my four rounds of TC Chemo. Here's a recap of my day:
As any cancer patient would do, I woke up, drank five glasses of water, and got ready for my big day. I wore a pair of Wonder Woman socks, complete with capes; comfy yoga pants; a Warrior in Pink tank top; a hoodie; and, of course, a pink wig and a knit cap with an off-color saying telling cancer what to do with itself that I received as a gift. I flipped the brim up on the cap so as not to offend folks, but I made sure to show all of my nurses and some of the younger cancer patients. They loved it -- it's not often you get levity like that in the chemo suite. I also wore a beautiful necklace that my husband gave me last night with three types of gold rings intertwined together. I think of them as symbolizing my pre-cancer life, my with cancer life, and my life as a survivor. They're all made of the same basic stuff, but are all unique, beautiful and different. :-) I finished up a little before noon, at which point I began crying with joy. I gave my chemo nurse a lovely necklace that I purchased for her -- I am hoping she'll like it. I arrived home to beautiful flowers from my very best friend. All in all, a good day. :-)
Thanks to all of you for your support in this process. Now to recover, start growing some hair, and get ready for the next phase of my reconstruction next month.

Congrats Wonder Woman!
Megan, Congrats on finishing chemo! That is so wonderful and a huge milestone! You are Wonder Woman!
Your necklace from your hubby sounds perfect! What a sweet and thoughtful gift that I know you will treasure always!
Crying is so understandable, as, you've been thru so much and can close the door ( HARD ) on chemo! I am crying tears of happiness for you and with you!
I love how you shared your day with us! It made me feel like I was with you!
Wishing you a lifetime of NED and enjoy the rest of your day!

Treatment Milestone
Megan, this is truly a milestone to be celebrated. I had 16 total rounds of chemo and I counted down to the very last one in August 2009. It is such a feeling of freedom and relief, isn't it? It sounds like you and those around you had a great attitude about it. It was about 6 months after chemo was over until I felt comfortable going out without a wig or a scarf of some kind. I have had 2 reconstruction surgeries and am doing well
Congratulations! and good luck.
