I feel good today, I will feel good tomorrow...gonna have fun

I am 49 and have an agressive form of RCC: a Clear cell with sarcotimoid features; at my first post nephrectomy scan, they found a solitary met on my lung; same pathology. Next scans are in april. If I believe the statistics I am screwed. But I feel good today, I should feel good tomorrow. In six months, I do not know.

So, I am trying to have fun. Bought myself a "sports car" (VW GTI), am taking many trips (spring training baby!). And enjoying my family. If we worry about what is going to happen, we will miss life when we feel pretty good.

I am David. I have kidney cancer. I am pissed about it, but there is very little I can do, other than live scan to scan. So, I am having fun.

.......I live that way also. I'll be working on my motorcycle al weekend because tomorrow is March, spring is coming, and I have many trips planned for the summer.

Ironic isn't it?

Attitude is so important. Many of those the most scared and most depresed have little bitty tumors and a prognosis with at least a 99% chance of a full recovery from the Sugery alone. If only they knew how lucky they were.

I think it is part of the process

When I first heard that I had cancer, it shocked me, but the initial prognosis was so good for a stage 1 tumor, so I was in denial. Had the Neprectomy, not a great path report (sarcotimoid), but I continued in denial. when they found the met, that hit me hard.

I got scared, and started thinking about the things I would miss.

But, now, I realize whateverr happens is more or less out of my control. The only thing I can control is my attitude and how I live.

So Carpe Diem, seize the carp!

Nice attitude, inspiring. Hopefully statistics are wrong. Way to go against the grain. I hope things turn out well for you, just don't assume they won't. Your positive attitude is awesome!

We do know how lucky we are, it doesn't make it any easier or any less scary. A tumor is still a tumor, no matter how big. Cancer or the possibility of cancer is still scary. I don't think the fear is minimized due to the size of the tumor or possible statistical outcome. What is fearful for one person can be the same for another, even though the disease or prognosis might be drastically different. We are here for all that are struggling with this beast of an addition to our lives.

Hope!!

I think its worse to know your sick and feel good.. it makes it harder to accept.. However.. Humor and a Positive Attitude are important and it sounds like you have both Chuck retired.. he's been working since he was 16.. 2 sometimes 3 jobs.. when his boss asked what he was going to do... Chuck's reply "Anything I want to" I support that decision 100 percent so do our Children...as long as the anything is not Laying on the couch depressed...but so far so good Enjoy life... with the advances in Kidney Cancer Treatment.. you may have more life than you believe...and I hope you do I hope and pray everyone here does!! Hope is a beautiful word!!

Going down the bucket list while I feel good

Right now, I am focusing on the things that make me happy, and the things that I feel I need to do before things get worse (bucket list).

So, last week, I spend the week at the Washington Nationals Spring Training. I met several of the ball players....including my favoriates. I chatted with Kurt Suzuki briefly (he was in a hurry) about his family's experience with Kidney Cancer (his father has stage 4 disease: nephrectomy in 2007, then met to the lung in 2008; he his still around and NED). I let him know how much I appreciated him telling his story, as that sounds similar to me, and stories like that give me hope). FWIW, the Kurt Suzuki Family Foundation will be hosting Kidney Awarenes Day at washington Nationals Stadium on 8/31.

I also got to spend time with the Nationals prospects....sitting on the bleachrs, watching minor league games, netx to the 20 YO kid, that, when is elbow is back from sugery, shoul dbe the next wonder (at 18 he had a 100 mph fastball with control). His name is Lucas Gilolito and he just chatted with me while tracking the pitches. Seems like a good kid.

Next off the bucket list is to attend opening day and also (another item) sit in the expensive seats. That will be on April 1.

I think I will bass on the room full of hookers, though.
