???!!! More?
I don't think SCC can metastisise to the breast can it? I just got a call fro MDA to come in for additional mammogram films and ultrasound. I really don't think it will be anything but am paranoid..... Wonder why?BTY, ITS a good thing I'm in Dallas right now instead of home! 4 hours travel vs 2 days?

I have never heard of squamous cell anal cancer metastasizing to the breast, but since I don't have M.D. after my name, I could not say with any certainty that it could not happen. I'm sure you know that the most common sites for mets from anal cancer are the liver and lungs. I've also heard of it metastasizing to the bone in a few cases, but I think that's rare. I am betting that this is a recall because something was not clear on your initial mammogram. That DOES NOT mean cancer though! I've been called back for repeats and ultrasounds a couple of times and both were clear. The second mammo was a little different to give a better view because I have fibrous breast tissue. Particularly in women with small breasts, this is common. As I always kiddingly tell my husband, "Sorry honey, I got nothin!" I'm always surprised they can gather up enough breast to put in the machine!
All kidding aside, I know this is causing you some anxiety, but it's really quite common to be called back for repeats. I hope you will be able to have it right away and that nothing of concern is found. Please let us know.

FunnyFunny Martha! I had a breast reduction 10 years ago and my daughter said they were calling me back to make sure I actually HAVE boobs! I am now the smallest busted woman in my family AND I LOVE IT! They are comparing my last 3 years scans or I would just think scar tissue! May still be... Smiles!

Doesn't take so much to scare us these days! Especially with a call from MDA! I'm keeping my grandsons in Dallas for Spring break so they will go with me and we'll do the tourist thing! Their Mom, my daughter, is going with me!
Thanks for the reassurance.....

Lorikat, I've been called back a couple of times too. Never was before, but I think they look extra closely once a person's had a cancer diagnosis. Hope everything turns out ok. So did you move? It's so nice that you'll be with your grandsons and daughter.

Haven't moved but might as well have? Spending more time here with my daughters family... My grandsons are growing soooo big!
My other half doesn't really want to move, so we'll see... He's staying home right now....

Lorikat....
You are surely in my thoughts and prayers. I almost didn't respond to this because I didn't know what to say. If you remember I got that call after a 1yr PET scan, and further testing showed a rare BC. That was 1yr ago this month. Don't let your worries get the best of you. It is believed that I had my breast cancer long "before" the anal cancer. It was called secretory carcinoma and is often missed on mammograms for years, I am thankful to have had it found on the PET, so in a messed up way glad I had the anal cancer if thats even possible at all. I have not heard of SCC that recurred in the breast, and I bet the docs are just being extra careful with their exam.

Thank you for answering and for the prayers. You know, while this IS scarey I just have to take one day at a time, one more whatever at a time. Melanoma in 2009. Anal cancer in 2011. And here it is 2013. No way This is going to happen again. Surely not THREE different kinds of cancer? Just going to run on the beach with my boys, laugh with my daughter and look forward to going home to my other half.....

Lori, I too have been called back for a repeat mammogram and ultrasound. I do my mammograms locally, not at MDA. But it turned out to be a false alarm. Praying the same for you!
Sending hugs,
Liz
