life changing event with a little added cancer!

I’m coming here in desperation, cancer being one factor of many. During my last semester of college my mother was diagnosed with a rare form of uterine cancer USPC Uterine Serous Papillary Carcinoma, at the time of diagnoses it was 3C. After the pathology report it, morphology showed it was actually stage 4B. She did a taxol, carboplatin regime following surgery and achieved a ten month remission. This past June it came back on her liver, slightly elevated CA125 to 54. She started chemo again, this time carboplatin and gemzar. It did shrink the tumors, but not enough. In December of 2012 she was operated on, a procedure known as radio frequency obliteration. It was 100% successful in removing the tumors on the liver. Just two months later though, they returned. She saw her doctor last Monday and was told she would never achieve a full remission and she would just have to live with it. She is now on Doxil. This is her third chemo. She has been very lucky as she has suffered very few side effects from the chemotherapy. She has been incredibly strong, but as of Monday, her outlook wasn’t as good, knowing this was a last line chemo and the tumors on her liver were already back, one measuring close to 3 cm. It’s not just the cancer that’s got me in a whole though. Sorry, I relize this about cancer, not other personal problems, so i just want to stick to my mom. Pleas e let me know about your experiences with this diease and doxil.

I'm sorry that your mother is going through this...

We had a thread here - started in December 2012 - titled 'Roll Call' in which several members of this board outlined their journey so far. Some of them have been through a very tough time and it's a testament to their fortitude that they are still here - surviving and thriving.  I wish the same for your Mom.

Sorry to hear about your mom.

Sorry to hear about your mom. This is a great site to come to.  It provides a place to voice concerns, fears and even joy at times.  Share what you can because there are many on here that understand what your mom is going through and as a caretaker what you are going through.  We are here to listen and help as we can.  Praying for your and your mom. trish

    God bless your mother

Ryan, I am so sorry to hear about your mother.  She sounds like a real fighter and you are very lucky to have her in your life.  I was so thankful for the people who have prayed for me in my battle and will do the same for your mother, as I am sure others who read your post are doing.
