UPDATE Would like the bus today in like 2 hours! Laugh-short notice???
It was the chemo, insurance denied it! I am on the fence for her2 and even though I have been on it for 16 months, Insurance said because the biopsy showed inconclusive in 2010 as far as -/+ they would not approve, and I can no longer get herceptin, even though that is what is believed to have kept me here this long. It is so new that it is really expensive so not too surprised. They have paid out so much already. Before herceptin, it spread to liver. connective tissues and to rest of bones while on chemo alone.
Rather than just go on hospice, I started back on Adriamycin alone without any other chemo. We are hoping that will relieve some of the bone pain! I am really fortunate that they let me have the herceptin for 16 months.
The kicker, you know it is never so easy. I was so nervous about doing another chemo, that I started passing out! Room started spinning, I started sweating, and then went black. I was a little, or a lot, embarrassed. But I made it through, thank God I didn't pee my pants! 2 more weeks with hair, and again thankful that summer is coming! I will be on this one weekly if it proves to help with the pain. Got nauseated immediately and that was with decadron.
I really hate chemo, yet, know I would not be here without it! Now hoping for some pain relief and not as much nausea as the first go round on the lovely red devil. Already to take Zofran and was instructed to take Ativan!
Thanks everyone,
Carol
You think? Just got a call from oncologists office. They called and he wants to see me next week, however, I will be there in 2 hours, told them to tell him to see me then, they laughed, but will do., There is no way that I can wait a week, when the is the first time in 11 years that I have gotten a 'need to see her' call. Had blood work on Thursday that should have come back yesterday. And he was not in the office until now.
So am thinking (I know thinking can be a bad thing), that either my insurance denied chemo, or that the liver function tests, along with increased pain could mean that my liver is fully involved. Here goes the mind .... but I do know for them to call me in like this it is not good. As much as he likes me, I am sure it is not that he is missing me!!!
Ashing for positive vibes at this point.
Hugs and love to all,
Carol

Sending My Strongest Possible Vibes
Hi,
We all know oncologist don't call for no reason. Then again he said "next week", so it doesn't sound like an emergency otherwise the message will be come in NOW!.
I had several of those calls from the nurse in the Oncologogist office and they weren't good news. Right NOW as soon as possible even when I tried to say, once, that I was busy could it wait. No, she replied, he wants to see you right Now. I said, "not good news, eh" and she replied, "I'm so sorry". I was out of my office, into my car but didn't break any rules of the road. I needed to think what my plan would be.
So I hope it's just some simple explanation for you. Sending strong vibes and I'm with you in spirit though I wish I could go in person with you Carol. Willing the gods, the mover and shaker of the universes that it can be something doable. I'm glad you didn't wait a week, that enough to give you an ulcer on top of everything else. Will be waiting for your news.
Best to you,
Doris

That wasn't what I was hoping for. Nor, you, either, I imagine.
But I'm on board with whatever eases your pain and keeps you here ready for the miracle drug.
Hoping for good swift results.

Glad you were a safe driver to get so many onboard with such short notice. Not what I wanted to hear but I was half expecting it. Forgot how nauseating the Adriamycin is, but it could be worse. Now hoping it helps.
How are you doing? I always love reading your posts, you just keep trucking on and I know it has not been easy for you either.
Hugs, and thanks for the prayers... I do believe prayer helps keep the spirits up.

Carol, I'm sorry I missed
Carol, I'm sorry I missed the bus! And yes, that was short notice.
That red devil (adriamycin) is awfully fierce. I sure hope it does the job for you! Hang in there...you've got good meds to deal with the side effects. Let us know how you're doing.
Big Hugs,
Linda
