We go tomorow to have port-a-cath? Put in her chest and peg tube put in her belly. Chemo starts Monday. Very scared to say the least. Radiation starts a week after that I think tHey said. We have to get some dentist work done before then.
Tomorrow is the start of your wife getting better....waking up to the port is painless, and while the tube kinda hurts afterwards, it is a very simple surgery. Of course you're scared...we all are when faced with the unknown but I think you'll find the fear will begin to evaporate as your wife moves through treatment....once we begin to actively fighting the disease, we become empowered....our perspectives shift, and yes....you two will pull together like you only dreamed of doing. This treatment isn't a walk in the park, but it most certainly is doable.....you see all of us made it from one end of the tunnel to the end....and we'll be there cheering you and your wife on.....with lots of support as you pass thru.
Things are going to be ok.....I'm old (62) and I made it through treatment, and headed back to work 6 weeks after I finished. It IS going to turn out fine.

your wife's 'rock', my husband was so wonderful during my surgery and recovery..it brought us closer as a couple than we've ever been.
I can only help you on the PEG part as I didn't have a port. I wish I did, with the chemo and all the fluids I got a little tired of getting poked all the time!
The PEG is an easy surgery, quick too. My husband said I was out of his site for only about 20mins. Took me a while to wake up but by the time I got my peg I was pretty weak and had been sick and vomiting all morning beforehand. I wish my rad onc would have ordered it before treatment started so that I could avoid all of that. Anyway, good for your wife that she is getting it now.
I know it's scary and overwhelming but I promise you, you both will be fine. Treatment is not fun but it is doable. Your wife has her young age on her side.
If you feel comfortable giving us her name, I'd like to add her to my prayer list.
What kind of chemo is she getting? Many of us have had different types of chemo so surely someone here can help you with that too.
Stay strong for her and try and be patient if for a while your jokes are not funny and she simply feels like not talking...it gets better I promise.
Take care,
Billie0
