Messed around
Hello again, again and again! Seems I posted 3 times, so sorry.
My sister seems to have been messed around in the system. She was sent along to her second appt at the hospital only to find no one knew why she was ther eand could not confirm her diagnosis, she got teary so they told her to come back the next week and they would make sure someone saw her, so she did but only one of the Chemo/Radio team was available when she arrived, again she was told to come back again the following week!
All this uncertainty and unknown is making it hard for my sister to 'hold it together', as she just told me. I feel so useless.
Thank you.

Not too cool
That's not too cool that they weren't ready to see your sister when she had an appointment and all. I remember when I first went in to see my radiation guy, he wasn't ready either. We almost switched hospitals right then and there - but when I met with my oncologist later that same day, he was great.
Is your sister going to a reputable hospital? Do you know if they've had experience with anal cancer before?
'Come back the following week' - she was told that twice?!?!? Not too cool. No wonder she was teary.
If you'd like to post the general location of where your sister lives, there might be someone on this forum who can recommend a good hospital/doctor.

I agree with Rose. If you can give us your sister's general location, perhaps someone will know of a good facility and/or treatment team that can help her without all of these delays. That's ridiculous how she's has been treated.

Sorry, but I really think your sister needs to get to a different hospital. Run, don't walk! Is this a top rated cancer center? There is just absolutely no excuse for such incompetence. I started out at a local hospital and the first time they messed up, I was out of there! You need to do some homework and find a top rated hospital. Go to http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals/search?hospital_name=Hospital+name&specialty_id=IHQCANC
I am so sorry that your sister has to be treated this way!0 -

I am so sorry that your sister has to be treated this way!Hey Rose, Mary and Mp,
Looks like things are starting to move now, my sister had a phone call today asking her to come in on Thursday for Radiotherapy planning. Phew!
We are not in America, we live in Australia, I hear the hospital is very good, up there with other great hospitals in the world apparently.
Hopefully she will be on her way now but I will let you know how she goes on Thursday...at least I can accompany her then. I have made a list of info you have all given me.
Many thanks again and I hope you are all going well.

Thanks for letting us know your sister's location. Since most of us are in the U.S., we might not have been much help in finding another treatment facility. However, it sounds like things are working out now and your sister will be getting treatment soon. That's great to hear, as waiting is the worst. I'm glad you have found this site for support and hope you'll keep coming back to let us know how things are going and if we can help you and your sister in any way. I wish you both all the best!
