Surgery is Scheduled
I have been scheduled for surgery on the 21st. All chemo is done for now. They will do a mastectomy and a lymphectomy on the right side. The surgeon said the lymphectomy is for insurance. The cancer was barely detectable in the lymph nodes and it is gone now, however, they are coming out just to be sure. She also wanted to do the left breast but all things considered, I said no, let's just do the cancerous side and considering what an anomoly this was, the left side should be O.K. and she was cool with that.
My surgeon and oncologist are just the greatest and I feel so blessed to have them on my team. They are both women and that made a world of difference to me. I must admit, I was apprehensive about having women doctors but I am converted now.
My cancer was classified as stage IV because it had penetrated the nipple and caused bleeding and an open sore that would not heal. That sore is all healed and the lump is about 1/3 the size it was before chemo started. I have faith in my Lord and my physicians who I feel are guided by His hand that the beast in me will be conquered.

On the 21st
Dear Charlie,
You can count me in sending positive thoughts to you on the 21st that your surgery will go smoothly and recovery will be quick and uneventful. It will be spring and time of renewal of life probably more so in Texas than in my part of New England. I know that mother nature knows it's spring even when it snows and old man winter is trying to dig in his heals. He will loose. That is a good date for surgery, one more step forward in this journey no one ever wants to go on.
Your teams sounds great and that is a big plus too.
Take care,
Doris

Oh yea Charlie!! Chemo is
Oh yea Charlie!! Chemo is done, that is a huge milestone!! Congratulations on that huge accomplishment!
As you've said...on to the next step. I'm glad you are so happy with your docs...it makes surgery much easier. And I think, purely my own theory, that we heal better and faster when we have faith in our docs.
I wish for you no surprises in surgery and a smooth speedy recovery. I will be on the pink bus cheering for you and your docs.
Hugs,
Linda

your climb up the mountain has been hindered by debris, dangerous animals, rocks, mudslides and wild wicked weather -- You've made it!!! You've Survived! All you can see the trail to you 'NEW NORMAL' below -- it is overwhelming. You just want to jump on that mountain bike and get down the mountain as fast as you can -- take a few minutes to appreciate all that you've accomplished -- over these past few months. You endured drugs, appointments, tests, scans, multiple Specialists .. YOU DID IT! Job well done, my dear Brother in PINK.
I am empathetic to your sorrows, and fears.
Take a few moments and appreciate YOURSELF .
Gentle hugs, My brother in PINK.
