in Anal Cancer #1

I don't know if this is from the chemo or the radiation but my guess is the chemo... My skin has changed... I used to have really rough, bumpy skin, on butt, on legs, on arms.... the skin is now as smooth as a baby's...  I mean smooth. Soft. It's neither good nor bad but just something that I noticed. Has anyone else experienced this?

    The skin on my butt was smooth as baby skin after 30 radiation treatments.  I made that comment that my butt was smooth as a baby's butt.

    No. I didn't apply any to the areas in question.

    That's it, exactly, yes, it's like baby skin, but in my case, in areas that weren't irradiated (and also areas that were).  Since the chemo effects skin cells, I figured that it was from that, but why it happened, who really knows.....  And has your skin stayed soft like that or did it return to it's former state, whatever that was, after a period of time?

    I do remember thinking my face was unusually soft and I wondered why.  It doesn't feel like that now.

    Skin Change

    The skin on my butt is not the same as it was prior to radiation treatments but different than it was right after treatment.  It is not smooth as a baby's butt now but softer than it was prior to radiation.

    Yes I had the same. People noticed the skin on my face was different.  My butt cleared up for almost 2 years.  Now have a few areas of discomfort.  It's a skin condition not acne but something like it on my butt.   Anyway they are now using chemo as a skin treatment.  Like a chemical,peel type thing but not so severe.

    My skin is totally different. My genitals are totally smooth. Softer than I ever remember. So soft in fact that its sensitive. I use refined pressed coconut oil there as a protectant (dr recommended). I also had rough knees and elbows pretreatment but they are all smooth now. I was curious why myself.

    You are not imagining, bet

    You are not imagining, bet your skin has changed.  I've told my husband 2 months ago I see it even in his face.  His skin is smoother than I remember and we've been married 46 years.  He does not notice it as I do.  He is 3 months plus 3 weeks post treatment.  Currently he is also dealing with pubic edema and an anal skin tag.  The anal skin tag bugs him as it is like a large external hemmoroid.  His surgeon told him he will not attempt to remove it.  It would not heal well due to the rad treatments.  Personally I think the skin issues could be from the combination of the chemo/radiation treatments.  We are both hopeful things will improve with time.
