Question
I am a 15 year stage 3 IDC breast cancer with many lymphnodes affected.
I am writing wondering how many of you might have had lumps that were benign before finding out you actually had cancer.
I have had many lumps and they too have affected my health but were dx'd benign and some not removed because doctors felt not necessary. Happened in Breast that wasn't taken first time around. I have had lumps in right arm and all lumps I have found including my breast cancer and lymphnode lumps at very early stages the size of a pea. I find lumps because of the pain in that area and usually a lump there as well.
I now have lumps in my neck one big one at bottom of head left side and then one at my shoulder neck area and now experience much pain and pressure behind left eye. I am seeing someone as I always do but believe you me I do not rush in a anxiety way knowing I hate doctors and not eager to begin anything. I wait to make sure won't go away and I also wait and see if my health will be affected and most often pain and fatigue my constant companion.
I am interested and don't worry I am not worried have learned to take things in stride just interested since this seems to keep happening all these years later.
Thanks Tara

no pain
i had no pain and there were 5 golfball size nodes wrapped around the carodit on the left side of neck just below the jaw.
i found it because i had cold for two weeks and glands always swell, but the left hand side never went down. took antibiotics for ten days and still did not go down.
no pain from the cancer

Mine was similar to John's. Started with a cold/sinus infection with swollen lymph nodes on the left side of my neck. The swelling didn't respond to a couple rounds of antibiotics. No pain until shortly before surgery but that was due to the tumors growing and pressing against sensitve areas in my neck.

I have just had one doctors visit with a blood test and she did feel all the lumps. I usually go to a doctor that doesn't even try to feel the lumps so couldn't go back there this time. Don't get me wrong that doctor does send me for tests but it is a little unnerving when she doesn't even bother to physically check or if she does it is nothing like the other doctors I have seen through the years at the cancer clinic.
This young doctor could feel the lump I was having trouble finding and thought the big one felt like a cyst. I had extreme pain with breast cancer lumps because the do press on nerves especially the golf ball sized one in the armpit 11 out of 21 positive nodes in the end.
Always know where to find some answers to naggin questions.

No Pain Just a Bump
The swollen lymph node in my neck was not painful. Just a fairly had bump that would not go away after antibiotics. It took them awhile to figure out it was cancer. Had some strange cell formations. It could have been anything from an infection, to a cyst to who knows. My lump was at the back part of my right jaw just below the jaw in the neck line.

Like the others....
no pain in the swollen lymph node.....found it when it was the size of a small pea....I wasn't too concerned with it at the time...but when it grew within a couple weeks, I started going to the Dr. about it. I read your expressions page, tho....I surely can understand your concern.

I have neve been like most. My first time round with BC I was riddled with pain, fatigue and exhaustion along with much nausea for years and until second lump grew huge in less than week not that intersted in giving me any tests concluding fibrous cyst for breast lump I had found. I do not get bent out of shape but do need looked at with my history and that is all I really think anymore. I have been lucky and will get all lumps looked at for my own good health.
Thanks again, find it intersting

I did have pain. I had a lump
I did have pain. I had a lump in my mouth that was very painful to the touch & also pain in my ear. When surgery was done to remove the tumor they found that it had invaded a nerve and this was causing the pain. Best wishes to you.

Just going for altrasound in a week but blood showed nothing. I am just tired of this always being about easing my mind when I wonder shouldn't ease their's. Nothing has changed to much over the years you have to be extremely ill for them to often take yo seriously and to me that is just not that great. It should be looked at as harm reduction more than anything else...
Thanks for your experience,
Tara
