Anybody els having as much fun as I am

in Prostate Cancer #1

Had a 9.5 PSA, Gleason score 3+4. I'm 54. Asked the Doctor, "what would you do if it were you". Told me "at your age I'd get it out". Well I never had any health problems before so I figured these guys would know. So I get hooked up with a surgeon. Get the robotic surgery, come home the next day. cath out 10 days later, leaked like a sive as expected. Three month later I get blood. Go back to the surgeon, does a scope, says I have scar tissue (very rare). Decides to postpone radiation treatments because he has to take care of the scar tissue first. (had to get radiation because surgeon said "there was alot of disease") Got home after the scope can not go to bathroom at all, not a drop. End up in the emergency room knocked out. Wake up with a cath. 10 days later surgery to fix scar tissue, surgeon comes out and says he found a surgical clip stuck in my urethra (very rare). Go back to the surgeon 4 weeks later. Does another scope but forgets to turn on the saline. Says scar tissue is back going to need another surgery. However according to my latest blood work it appears my PSA is on its way up again. I wake up the next day, could barely walk from the dry scope. Went back to the Doc and said good bye. Got a different Doc now but PSA still going up and scar tissue still forming.Then I was talking to another manwho is going through the sam exact thing as me. Scar tissue, clip stuck, average 30 pads a week one year after the surgery. So now we have two guys with the same (very rare) problems. And what is even more rare, same surgeon. Go figure. So my question is, anybody else having as much fun as me?

    I'd advise you to charge $30

    I'd advise you to charge $30 a day for anyone who whats to share the fun to spend a day with you.

     

    You are your own amusement park for sure!!!

    A good laugh helps once in awhile!

    Not to make light of your situation, but seriously!  You have to ask yourself "WTF?!"  So in all serious sympathy for your ongoing bad luck, I only offer this because I know you are unfortunately not alone...

    So after my surgery and throughout recovery, friends and family are always asking me - "so how are you doing?"  As I told one of my dear friends and fellow PCa fighters, I have forever wanted to reply "hey, I am doing great - it hurts to ****, it hurts to piss, I can't get an erection to save my life -but other than that, life is absolutely fricking great!".

    Now of course I have never been so rude or had the guts to give that response, it would be priceless to see the look on the other person's face... :-)

    Back to the serious side - I sure hope you have found a real doctor now that can turn things around for you.  Meanwhile, keep the faith and fight the fight - it is better than the alternative!

    There are bad Dr.s out there.  Most times when they make a mistake they can get by with it. Normally, in business, if someone failed to tellyouof all thecomplications, side effects, etc.  you would own them.  Unfortunately this is not the case in the field of medicine.  Most people do not know that the older you are theless you are worth.  Get into your 60's and your value is down to about $250,000. Lawyer fees will eat up about half, ormore, depending on how hard the battle is. 

    Unfortunately Dr.'s tellus very little.  They give us. Percentages, probabilities, and all that, but they do not mention what willhappen with RP, penis shrinkage, incontinence, ED.  They do not t ell you about side effects from radiation. Fissures, pain, etc.  I have radiation myositis.  Rare, but I never heard about it until they did a CT scan to see what was causing pain.  

    When you are fighting this your main goal is survival.  Sometimes it is not worth it.

    Scary thoughts but reality

    90% of doctors don't graduate in the top 10%. Medicine is an art and they battle with practicing attorneys! Wink

    Yeah guys it is a crazy ride. And I must admit sometimes you have to ask yourself if it was all worth it. That being said, just today I had another chapter added to the book. You know before I had surgery I never watched myself go to the bathroom. Who does? Now I do not go all day because I leak. But when I get home from work and sit down or lay down I do not leak so my bladder will fill up and I can get a stream going after a while. Cool right. So when I do go I watch to see if the flow is coming out the way it is supposed to. Well no more than an hour ago. I got to the bathroom and I notice that the stream looks like it is coming out in two parts. It looked like there was a "thing" sticking out while I was going to the bathroom. At first I thought it was the light in the bathroom. Then I thought it was another surgical clip. When I got done going to the bathroom I noticed a piece of, it looked like brown thread hanging out. I pulled it out sure enough it looked like brown thread about 3/4 of  an inch. I had to laugh. So I washed it off and placed it in a small bag. I showed it to my wife. She looked at me like I was crazy. I am going to take it to my Doctor and see what and where it could have come from. Still laughing about because it just seems so bizarre. This thing just keeps getting better and better everyday. Thanks for your support guys, I'm sure one day this will all pass. Now my wife is asking what else is going to come out of there? I told her you never know, maybe the surgeon's watch next time. I know he has a rolex.

    I got into a fight when I was a teen ager. Ended up with a broken nose and while the doctor was getting prepared my father wispered in my ear. "Glad you have clean underware" What a funny guy, I guess he could have asked if I was alright! Anyway, several weeks after the doctor set my nose, out came the packing!!!! Today I still cringe when I think back 40 years ago. Wink

    I had the robotic surgery and

    I had the robotic surgery and only had a slight issue controlling my bladder for a couple of weeks. I can drink three pints of beer before having to pee and occasionally I leak a drop or two. I had a good surgeon and consider myself lucky at this stage, four months post-op. It sounds to me like somebody really f'd up. I hope you get it resolved.

    Suture material from the

    Suture material from the urethra connection is supposed to dissolve, but it could break up and pass in urine. Happened to me -

    I also had sutures from the inner layers (muscle tissue) pop out through my skin about three months out from surgery.
