I am losing my warrior...
My dad’s battle with cancer has been stopped. A few weeks ago I wrote about his parotid gland infection. Well, that turned-into a fast-moving sepsis, hospitalization, cessation of radiation treatments, insertion of g-tube, and scans that indicate the cancer has metastasized to the neck area of C3-4; C4-5. I guess I was “prepared” for lung/liver metastasis, but not the spine. All of this led to him becoming a DNR code. He spent two weeks in ICU/Pulmonary care and then was transferred to a SNF. Speech is unintelligible. Hallucinations and “visions” are common.
He is now re-hospitalized with aspiration pneumonia and palliative care has been assembled. When he learned that he was back in the hospital to be treated for his low O2 saturation, he clapped and mumbled, “One more chance.”
I know a lot of what I am writing has little to do with H&N cancer, but I thought his fellow warriors would want to know. You have helped me more than I can express and I thank you all for that.
I humbly ask for prayers for him and my family. And, selfishly, me. Know that I love you all and hope you continue your fight.
With heartfelt blessings…

Oh my dear
Vee,
If I could I would take all the pain away from your Dad and the family. I have walked this path and it is such a personal unexplainable journey. My prayers and thoughts are with you, and if you ever need to vent you can pm me anytime. My Mother was Irish and loved this so I'm including it for you my friend. Katie
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Vee,
We have never spoken
Vee,
We have never spoken because I am new to sight, but it doesn't mean I don't feel your pain.
I will pray for your father, you and your family. May God take him quickly if that's his plan, or heal him quickly if that's His plan and aid you emotionally and physically in whatever path your father, the warrier, must take. In Jesus' name Amen0 -

My heart breaks for you.....you have stood by his side and done everything a person could do to help him fight this horrible disease. You too, are one tough cookie. Vee,
I am very sorry to hear this news. He will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Your Dad is 94 (I thinkyou said) and for you to tend to him as you do shows what a great man he is, and how you have turned out. I wish there was more we could do. However, at 94 I'd would not lay odds against him I'm sure he has had his share of close calls, but who knows.
I honor your dad with three cheers as the fellow warrior he is and a salute (my dad passed away as a Navy Officer) and the small ceremony they did for him in his bed just days before he died meant to much to him....so in my own way I saluter your father and pray he has no pain and peace in his heart. I pray the same for you Vee.
Bless a great man and his wonderful caretaker daughter.
