Just back from Savannah
I had such a wonderful time. Savannah is a truly lovely city built around 24 small parks (22 are still there). The homes are very similar to the Garden District in New Orleans. I love all of the live oak trees with moss. My serious birder cousin took us on a boat trip off Tybee Island and it was a glorious day! So nice to get away, but I missed you guys!

Welcome home! I'm glad to hear you had a great time! What a lovely break! That boat trip sounds fabulous!
Off Tybee, we saw many beautiful birds: egrets, eagles, wood storks, oyster catchers, pelicans, etc. But the highlight of the trip was getting to see a snowy owl. The owl wasn't spotted on the boat trip. He was living on top of a beach front condo...lol!

Oh I love owls! They are just amazing. We used to have one that would show up in our yard every now and then at night. That is so cool! Sounds like your owl has excellent taste in real estate!

Missed You Too!
Glad that you had a great time with your sisters. The boat trip sounded very nice.
I am not a birder, though my son is in charge of a local bird sanctuary.
It's good to get away from life's problems. How are your ribs? Is it shingles?
Best,
Doris

Thanks for asking. My ribs are feeling better lately. I am hoping it is shingles (no rash though) but both of my markers doubled . I am hoping that is just a fluke but I suspect I may be getting a PET scan too. My appointment today was cancelled today, so I will see my onc next week (Tuesday) instead. I plan on enjoying a week's reprieve .
I am not a serious birder but my cousin writes a birding column, has written a birding book and is a wonderful photographer of birds. She offered to take us out while she participated in a bird count. I must confess I had as much fun walking the beach and just looking for seashells . Seeing family and just getting away was so refreshing, but I missed you too!

Savannah
Hi C.C. - we are spending a day in Savannah in April when we go to Hilton Head and Charleston for a week. Do you have any suggestions of places to see? I definitely want to go to the Juliette Gordon Lowe house; what about Lady and Sons to eat? Can we do downtown Savannah as well as Tybee Island in one day?
Do you realize it was one year ago that we met each other at Epcot?
Hugs,
Linda

We ate at the Pink House, a restaurant all of the locals recommend. It is a little expensive, but is located in a lovely old mansion and the food was incredible! We ate lunch there and the prices were reasonable.
I think I would just do downtown Savannah as there is so much to see there. I loved the Telfair museums and especially the Jepson Center, which is a very modern museum. It is designed to bring the outside in and visa versa. I also enjoyed walking down to the river. If you can't manage the steep stairs down to the river, I believe some of the hotels have elevators.
My favorite breakfast restuarant was Goose Feathers. We loved the Eggs Benedict. Patsy and I split an order because it was rich.
We didn't get to the Juliet Gordon Lowe house, but we too were very pressed for time. My Savannah relatives had us on a strict schedule .
Mostly I just like walking around taking in the beauty of the trees and architecture. Hope you have a great time too!

CC, I am so glad you were able to enjoy your trip. It sounds like you had a wonderful time with your sisters! I love that your days were full, and I would very much enjoy wandering through all those museams. I'll be looking for results, once you get them.
Hugs,
Linda
