Any hints for dealing with rib pain?
I am packing thermacare heat wraps, vicodin, aleve, etc. when I head to Savannah. Pain has been bad lately--especially at night or when I take a deep breath. I refuse to let this spoil my vacation. What do those of you who have this pain find helpful? Thanks!

Hi and i am vey sorry
I do not think heat wraps is a good idea since you do not know the origin of your rib pain. These two I was using for ribs. They both prescription RX

Lidocaine Patches
As Olga suggested Voltaren gel is excellent. I do use it daily on my knees, I rarely use it on my ribs.
I do have mets to ribs also and I use Lidocaine patches as suggested by my primary. It seems to relieve the pain very quick.
Due to my use of Methotrexate for uveitis they have allowed me to use only two aleve a day. So I use them at work when my spine begins to hurt. I can't put patches on the whole area.
You should be able to have your doc write up a prescription and pick them up a your local pharmacy. It's not a narcotic so they can fax the prescription in.
Have a great one!

I have a heating pad
that is not too big that I use at night on my left ribs or right neck area (I do take it with me when I go out of town). It seems to help me a lot. I am thinking though that wrapping myself in an electric blanket would work the best:)) When it gets really bad, I will take an Ibupro 800. It also helps the pain!
Even if you don't have the results back yet, maybe you can call your doctor and he/she will know of something that may work better! Probably the best rx will be to have a good time!
Hugs,
Carol

Oh CC, I wish I had the answer for you. Or even better, could just take that pain away altogether. But I'm really glad you're not letting it spoil your fun! Have a great time in Savannah!!

Linda
