Surgery tomorrow

Tomorrow I'll be seeing a surgeon - to straighten out a somewhat mangled wrist.

On Jan 26 I succeeded in tripping/slipping on one of the dog bones aand down I went on butt and a wrist.  Hubby got home shortly and off we went to UC - both bones broken slightly above joint but fairly well aligned so sent home in a splint and an appt to see orthopedics on Monday.  The DRs thought that IF they stayed as they were didn't want to do surgery with dealing with LE unless absolutely necessary.  So had to go back on this Monday for new X-rays.  Turns out that nothing had come close staying in place.  Tomorrow morning they will be putting a plate on one and a screw in the other.

Not the greatest time to have happened though.  Tomorrow morning Hubby's boss leaves for week in Mexico and I was supposed to work in the office and as dispatcher.  Oh-ha-well.   I'll be driving myself up to surgery and Hubby will come up with his rollback wrecker to bring me (and my Bronco II) home.  Life is always intersting and different - could be a lot worse.

    Oh my goodness!  I hope they load you up on goofy pills before they put you in that wrecker! 

    You won't really be alone!  I'm with you in spirit as they say.  I will be praying for you and sending peaceful, healing thoughts all day!  You have lots of friends on here that will be rooting for you too!

    I'm really sorry you have to go through that surgery but get it over with and get back to having fun!

    Surgery is never any fun.  May yours go smoothly and may your recovery be uneventful.

    What bad luck!  May your luck change for the better in the future too.

    Be certain to tell your doggie to keep his bones out of the humans pathway.

    Oh dear

    What a fall you must have had. I'm sorry things didn't work out well and you have to have this surgery. You will be in my thoughts and I will send some positive energy for a quick recovery.

    Wow Susan, I'm so sorry you have to go through this.  It sounds very painful, and on your LE side just to complicate things...now you will get special treatment at the airport though! LOL

    I'm sending good mojo and prayers for the surgery...then you use that power within (and all our energy too) for a speedy complication-free recovery.

    I know its hard to type with one hand but let us know how you are as soon as you can.  Maybe you could peck out an OK or SOS with your nose!?

    good luck on your surgery tomarrow, It isn't any fun. I will be going through surgery again on the 15th , so I will pray for you. Hope all goes well.

    Sorry for not writing back sooner but I did try -just didn't work out.   Please excuse typo's.

     Surgery went good - pain level is MUCH lower than it was before surgery and getting better daily.  Even the LE level has gone down some since surgery but not to BF (Before Fall) level but not getting worse is a big positive and getting a bit better -even better.

    Turned out that my anetheologist is the Husband of my PA.  I was only 'mildly' knocked out but he did some sort of a 'shoulder block' that totally numbed my arm.  He explained it totally to me but I don't remember it all.  Feeling was back the next morning.

    I almost got given away.  Someone who is driving has to sign you out to leave and the Nurses knew that Hubby would be coming up with the wrecker to get me.  It's a relatively small ambliatory surgery and I was the last ortho surgery of the day so when a guy walked in, they asked if he was Mr. W..... and he said yes so they handed him the paper to sign.  He did sign it and then asked why did he have to sign it.  He was a Mr W..... - fairly common last name -just not the right Mr. W..... So when Hubby walked in I told them he was the right one.

    While he was loading Bronco, Security Police (on a VA Facillity) came over and questioned him as to why he was picking up a vehicle.  They seemed to have a hard time understanding that I had driven it there to get to surgery and that he was just picking it and me up.  I guess it does sound a bit strange looking back but perfectly logical to me. (LOL)

    It is so good to hear from you!   I am glad the pain is better already - that is great news!  Can you imagine if you woke up the next day in some strange Mr. W's house!  Wouldn't that be a hoot!!?  Good thing you were only partially sedated :)

    I think having one car be a wrecker would come in real handy!!

    Keep up the speedy recovery :)

    Wrecker is not technically

    Wrecker is not technically ours - it's assigned to him by the company he works for.  We do have a car trailer (horse trailers too) that we usually use my 'ranch' 3/4t, 4x4 Dodge to pull.  Hubby has an F-250 4x4 and my 'daily driver' is my Bronco.   My Bronco was bought for me (for 'crusher price') a bit over 3yrs ago by Son.  He did not like the idea that my daily driver at the time was a 5 speed Sonoma for after surgery.
