Can You All Come Along On The Pink Bus With Me Monday Please?
I am going Monday for my mammo and ultrasound and would really appreciate all of you riding along with me.
Get those party hats out and noise makers as I am hoping & praying that I will get good news.
And, don't forget the food as I probably won't be able to eat until after I get my results as I will be too nervous.
Like all of you, I hate these tests, though I know they are important..just hate being so anxious about them.
Thanks!
Kylez

YEP!
You've got it Kylez! I know how hard it is to go for tests and the anxiety that builds up. But, I just know that we will all be celebrating NED with you and dancing in the streets!
Food? You've got that too! How about if I make some of my famous twice baked potatoes? They are delicious if I say so myself.
Wishing you good luck and will be saying a prayer too!

Thanks for coming along!

Can you tell me what the pink bus is ? I have seen it mentioned. I can't see well so I can't read many posts my eyes get blurry. I had a stroke behind my eye and cataracts. So I miss spell words, use a magnifying glass to see the screen and to type. while laying down. I try to read as many as I can. But have wondered about this bus that is mentioned a lot. I spend most of my time trying to find a house with four bedroooms. We are poor people and have a lousy credit score and trying for grants but you have to be a rocket scientist to find the right ones and fill them out. IF I get better would like to have a small garden. I was never sick when I home canned my food and it lasted a few years. Sorrry for getting off the subject. Tests are scary. My surgery is the 15th of Feb. and Im scared to. Hope everything goes well. We will be thinking about you good luck.

I am asking every one what is the pink bus. I am not familar with all the things that the BC group does like the bus and other things. Can anyone fill me in. I will have my surgery the 15th of February so not sure how much they will have to do, or if I will spend more time in the hospital. I will try and be here as much as I can. Thank you all.

They aren't really hard to make, but, they do take some time. Well worth it though! Want my recipe and directions?

The pink bus is an imaginary bus, ofcourse it is pink for breast cancer, that we get out, gas up and take along with whatever pink sister might need it. Some need it for tests, some need it for surgery's, some need it for results. It's there for whomever might want it.
We say we are taking food and drinks and partying it up just for fun. It helps with the tension of whatever the pink bus is out for.
Basically, not only do we wish our pink sister good luck and say prayers, but, this just makes it lighter I guess. It puts a little humor in the post.
I hope I've explained it for you and it looks like you'll need it for the 15th. We will all be with you then, on the pink bus, wishing you well and holding your hand for comfort.

Praying for you too Kylez! It's cold here, so, I will bring along some homemade chicken noodle soup. If I have time, I'll get a cheese and cracker tray too, but, if you leave early, I might not be able to get it.
What time are your tests?
About the pink bus question, it is our way of showing support to everyone since we live all over the country. It shows that we are there in spirit, on the pink bus.
Praying for you,
Debby

Hi Muffingranma,
Back in 2011, I wrote a "The Pink Bus, History, sort of"
http://csn.cancer.org/node/231611
No one has come back to dispute my recollection, that the Pink Bus was taken from an early one. Here is the story.
Doris
The “Pink Bus” is used by many online breast cancer support groups to help those who need buoying up in a virtual sense on their journey. I “google” the words “breast cancer “pink bus” and could not find any history. There were many busses painted pink for awareness.
There are many groups I am certain that will claim the “Pink Bus” as their own. One site on the internet claimed introduction to the “Pink Bus” went back to the Sept/Oct 2005 article in WebMD magazine.
In my original online breast cancer support group, it was Nancy who introduced it back in 2001 for one of our members. The “Pink Bus” was to accompany Lynne for her first treatment of Herceptin probably in early 2001.
Nancy listed all the items to comfort Lynne from a cashmere afghan to an Elvis cap to go around her shoulder. Sixty-one plus women traveled ... “will be right there with you in spirit. We hope this magical bus had made you smile, and give you something to think about as you start this new road. We love you so much, and I KNOW for sure that each and every one of us would be there in person if at all possible”. Love & hugs, Nancy
This group published a small booklet titled: “Breast Cancer Online: In Our Own Words”. On page 41 “Sharing with Other Survivors” The Bus to Lynne’s Appointment” post is mentioned. It is available to download if you want to read it. The booklet was originally published in 1999. Reprinted in 2001, the bus trip was not in the original booklet as Lynne’s recurred in April of 2000.
http://www.bcans.ca/booklets/inourown.pdf
I don’t remember where Nancy picked up the idea of a virtual "Pink Bus" perhaps another online support group or her own vibrant imagination. The bus travelled for years, helping so many women in the support group. When I first saw a mention of the “Pink Bus” last spring on this board, my heart stopped for a second. I was totally in shock to read that the “Pink Bus” was continuing it’s journey.
BCANS was a grass root operation, conceived by women with breast cancer who attended a support group. The internet was new when they began the support forum in 1996. I logged on in the fall of 1997, posed a question that was never answered. It was not active at all. I went back in February of ‘98 as a lurker and noticed that activity had considerably picked up. My first post was a month later. We were a small group for a long time when the internet was new. All the women became good friends, small enough of a group to know each lady’s story. Lynne was the leader of the group, much in the way that Chenheart/Claudia is to ACS BC group. By the summer of 2000, Lynne’s prognosis was not good but, she kept her Pollyanna attitude until the end. She died in January of 2005 and the next few years, so many women on the forum dealing with stage IV succumb to this disease. Those who had been there from the start and continue to do well began to post less and less.
The BCANS lost their funding and voted to close in the fall of 2010. Many of us are on Facebook, a closed group for old members of BCANS to keep in touch. When someone had mentioned the “Pink Bus” last spring. I mentioned to the group that it was still around on another support board.
The “Pink Bus” brought back memories of my old forum and outlasted it. The “Pink Bus” continues it’s purpose to help women with breast cancer issues who have a need of virtual support.
Won’t it be a grand day when the “Pink Bus” is rusty from lack of usage and repairs, gathering cobwebs in some forgotten bus junkyard of a time long past? There won’t be a need, for they will have found a cure. There won’t be any woman or man, young or old who will ever need to know what it is like to request virtual support to accompany them on where they never wanted to go in the first place. A rusty, old bus with a few flakes of pink, won’t that be a grand sight!
Best,
Doris

For Kylez
Do you like lobster rolls, they are sort of pinkish! Easy to make, easy to transport and I will bring enough along for everyone, including some extras.
I could use a party myself right now. So you have to have a great ultrasound and mammogram, so I am sending ahead lots of luck too. How about a "pink" rabbit's foot. I know, I know, wasn't so lucky for the bunny. This one had an extra foot to spare.

Love the concept of the pink bus! I am sure everything will be fine Kylez. Look at all of the support you've got!
I'll have a few coolers full of drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic.
My best to you,

Thank you it does explain it, and yes I will need it this Friday I had breast cancer in 2006 they did a lumpectomy then it followed up with radiation treatments. In August 2012 I seen bruising which turned out to be radiation cancer from the treatments in 2006. They took a large part of my breast off in August, it came back agajn last of Oct. surgery followed in Nov 5th 2012 they did a mastectomy put drains in and have drained every week and still are draing it the last two times the drainage was very bloody I want to find out if the bloody drainage and pain are from where I hurt myself when I lifted my arm and felt something pull or tear and then it hurt and still does. I will have an ex ray this Friday to see if I did hurt myself My doctor said the bloody drainage came back no cancer. The other area they biopsy ed came back positive for Angiosarcoma cancer. I will have surgery the 15th of Feb. He said he may have to go wider and deeper because it looks like it has spread in three weeks time. . That my skin was pulled so tight now and he doesn't know how he will do it if he has to go deeper. He is going to talk to a plastic surgeon I know this cancer will keep coming back. They haven't found anything that works against it. But the radiation treatments I will take may prolong it for a while. I have had it four times from AUG.2012 till now I pray this surgery is the last for a while. radiation too prolong radiation cancer lol. I just hope soon no more draing the area to.
