New to the Board Worried about CT Scan Results possible focal fatty infiltration, but can not rule o
Hi Everyone, my name is Hope. I was diagnosise with Stage IIIA colon cancer in Sept 2012. I started on Folfox in October, but have had allergic reactions to the Oxiliplatin, so have been on a desense program, where it is administered over a 10hour period of time in ICU. My CT scan in October was clear, but my reent scan...just 3 months later showed a new 2CM low density spot on segment 6 of my liver. The CT scan said that it could be possible focal fatty infiltration, but scan coudl not rule out live mets...so I will need an MRI
Of course I am scarred to death at thought that the cancer might have spread in just 3 months while on Chemo, but I am keeping the faith and praying it is only focal fatty infiltration. Has anyone else experienced this and if so would you be willing to share your story with me...Iam on a chemo break after completing 6 rounds of Folfox, they are talking about changing my chemo to Xeldo..
Thanks for any help anyone is willing to share.....God Bless each and everyone!

Welcome. Could be either
Welcome. Could be either one. MRI will likely differentiate. Don't put a lot of time and energy trying to figure it out. The best thing you can do is to try and forget the situation and just wait for the test results. It is what it is. Worrying will not change things. If it is metastasis, it is small and there is only one. That is good. If it's steatosis, nothing to worry about. It is reversible. The hard part is waiting. If the MRI is inconclusive they may mention a biopsy. Look into this as there is concern with seeding. You wouldn't want to create a bigger problem. Smart of you to join this board. Even if this turns out to be just a scare, you may benefit from staying involved. I've learned so much from these guys.
Good luck

Hi Hope. I just got diagnosed
Hi Hope. I just got diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer last month and will be starting chemo soon. Waiting is the worse part of everything and I am not a patient person! Praying all your tests come back positively.

ChelseaThank you, Chelsea. I am trying not to worry and do know that I will deal with whatever they tell me. Cancer certainly in a fear like no other. I try to read most of the board post, I find it so helpful and informative. What a great group....prayers to everyone!
