Silver Something

For some reason the formatting of the superthread is all jumbled up (at least on my machine) and I can't find a product I remember seeing.  It was Silver something and it was supposed to be great for neck burns, and man do I have neck burns.

Anyone help?

Thanks,

    good stuff

    Joe,

Silver Sulfadiazine Cream.  Works great, is some-what messy.  You lay in a nice covering slather  and reap the rewards of no pain.  Wear a tee shirt you don’t care about getting cream on, same for pillow case.  It takes a little trial and error to figure what works best for application and removal and reapplication.  Warm water helps remove it.  I know your neck HURTS that is why I said trial and error.

Worst pain of my treatment, weeks 6, 7 & 8, this stuff is fantastic.  As long as it was in place ALL my pain went away.  I bought 2- 50 gram container and 1- 400 gram container.  If it is bad get the large one.

I looked like I had on a turtle neck when it was all slathered on.

    Best of luck,

    Biafine

I was prescribed a few tubes of this stuff.  It may be the same thing, with a different name... Cleared up my very bad burns in less than a week and I was able to re-start my radiation treatments.

    Neck Burns

Everyone is gong to think this is funny. I had pretty good second dgree burns on both sides of my neck towards the end of rads. My wife used the aquaphor and neospsorin(sp) and then wrapped my neck with saran wrap and secured it with tape. We did this everyy night for about 4-5 hours. My neck is still baby butt smooth after 3 years. And of course the saving money on razor blades. Smile

    Soak those burns!

    Joe,

Not sure what they might have given you in the form of tools.. But our nurse taught us to get 4x4 gauze pads.. And 4 inch gauze roll... Wet all of them down with .9% saline solution (pharmacy will call it saline irrigation.) place 4x4s really wet over the burns, wrap with the roll of wet gauze.. Sit for 20-30 minutes.. Then remove. It takes a ton of heat out of your neck.. And cleans and soothes the neck.  It can dehydrate your skin, so be sure to lather up immediately after and several times a day! We soaked him 2 or 3 times a day.. The nurses in the hospital were in awe Of how well his neck responded.

    Yes, Silver Sulfadiazine Cream!

When treatment started we used Aloe Vera Gel (without alcohol, also used for sunburns) as some other folks on here recommended and did that after every treatment. It was rather soothing to the neck. You just have to be sure it's washed off well before next treatment, but be gentle when rubbing. We did this for about 3 weeks continuously until the redness and burning came on full blast, then we started using the Silver Sulfadizine Cream. It was awesome! He would finish tx and then immediately lather it all around his neck and then wrap gauze around the neck. Sometimes he would do this a couple of times a day or more. We are going on 10 weeks post and his neck doesn't look like anything ever happened to it. Nice and soft. I would say about week 4-5 post it healed up completely. Now we are just dealing with some "turkey gobbler" skin under the chin...LOL.

The last week of treatment my

The last week of treatment my husbands neck had 2nd degree burns on his neck that worsend over the next two weeks. The area was painful, open and oozing. We also got a RX for Silvadene cream and it healed over several weeks and helped decrease the pain. It is a prescription and works wonders for pain and hastens healing. After I applied it to the area I put telfa over the affected area and we used stockinette to keep it on. It is kind of messy but well worth it. The healing will start soon.

    Thanks all.

Got the Silvadene cream yesterday and Matt you were correct as usual, wnat a relief.  The real issue is taking this stuff off so you can put on fresh.  Now that is a challange.

    Thanks again,

    SuperThread..

With the upgrade and different posting format when Dawn tried to make a change, it messed up the thread...

She gave me permission to fix it and take it over ..., which I did and have, but Greta hasn't taken the old SuperThread off yet, or pinned mine to the top for no replies.
