Something off subject of H&N
Just a share if I may. I am heating our home with wood heat this year (trying to keep electric down). So I cut about 5 cords of wood and purchased 1 cord at the beginning of the season. Thought that might do it...well, beginnig of January I was gettin low and purchased another cord of wood...burned through that pretty darn quick (we just got 15" of snow AGAIN this past two days)...so with all the snow going out to get wood is hard, buying wood now is expensive. We have the funds, but with five kids and medical bills that never seem to go away...it's just not what we want to spend them on ......anyway...I needed to order another cord to get us to the end of February...or maybe just the 3rd week of Feb....
....so last night while we were sleeping a tree fell in our backyard. It was the closest tree to the house (we have 3 ft of snow in the entire backyard) A tree that is at least 1 cord. Dry as they come, very good firewood!! I got 1/3 of it cut today and in the house a burning ...and saved about $200.00...
...so I think the Lord heard me when I said I am not so sure what to do about this wood situation..
Next year I will do a better job of getting 8 cords of wood in for winter. Plus it has been very cold this year...most of January has seen 15 degrees and lower ...one week never got about ZERO.
Okay, that 's my share time off subject
Love you all -----
Tim

Tim,
How fortunate for your family.
Do you need a car?
I am smiling at you. Now that I have my feel god fix it is off to bed.
Matt
Faith is a huge part of it for me ..sometimes I don't do a good job of resting on that ...I let the mind wander and worry or fret.....it's days like these that make me realize He does care for my family.....wood is really hard to come by at this point in the winter ...and a cord can run $200 - $300 for the good stuff.
@ Matt....love it. We actually plan on getting my wife a used / very used Suburban in the next month or two.... ...hmmmmmm ...lol
Good night fellow warriors!
Tim
HUNTING ALL DAY TOMORROW !!!! Kippee-Ki-Yi-Yeah!!!!

Awesome !
Tim,
We use to burn and sell wood. So cutting and splitting a loggers cord is no small feat ! You have done so amazing ! My Mother would have said about the tree falling and not hitting the house or anything.....pennies from heaven ! Katie

wow you burn a bunch of wood
I heat with wood as well. In a milder climate, that's for sure. We are otherwise all-electric, and the heat pumps can really eat up the power. I only need two cords to get through the winter, though, which makes my project pretty simple by comparison. I didn't cut my own this year, nor last because of the various health care interventions, but managed to find discounted wood on craigslist before the burning season began. You must have a pretty big house, my friend.

Amen!
Amen! Love the blessing you received Tim. I find myself finding little blessings everyday. Big or small...they are still blessings to me.
15 inches of snow in two days? That's crazy. Here in Mid-Michigan we do get our share from time to time...but not that much in a very long time. Maybe 6-8 in two days has been our max the last 10yrs or so. Our snow is mostly lake effect snow.
Thanks for sharing with us..
God Bless you and your family,
Cris

Longterm ....we heat exlusively with wood for the first time this year. Not a big house ....older house and the fireplace looks more like a furnance you could slip a body into when it's closed I cut aobut 5 cords of wood, was told if you use wood heat only, you will need 7-9 to get through winters up here. I already purchased one cord ws about to get another when the tree out back fell. Good and dry and easy to split...we have been burning it for 2 days now.
This has been a long and snowy winter. We just got another 15 inches over 2 days on top of the 12 a few days before that with a day gap in between...temps are running below zero to highs of 29 ...we had a 2-3 week period not long ago the temps never made it above 10-15 degrees and we have had serveral nights below -10 to -15 degrees below 0
John, I spent five hours total walk time today going back several miles tracking that wolf ....I have a wolf tag and mountain lion tag along with all my other tags for the 2013 season..but all I saw was tracks.
I do believe He will take czare of my family, as undeserving as i am ..He still cares!
Thanks everybody...
Tim
BTW...those boots beside the tracks are mine and are a size 12 ...that's one big wolf!!!

Makes one think
Isn't it strange how sometimes things just seem to come together?? Does make one think that your "higher power" is looking out for you.
stay warm, and ask your higher power to cut and stack next time.

You are right when you say firewood is more enjoyable when you cut it yourself. I too have purchased and cut, and I must say I sleep pretty well when I cut it.
Stay warm buddy
Mike
