Question about flomax
Hi everyone, I dont have prostate cancer but have a question I thought maybe someone here could answer. I get yearly ct scan for lung cancer and although my cancer looked good it showed I had a very large prostate and bladder. My uroligist put me on flomax once a day. That was a little over a year ago and it has worked well but I hated the side effects. I used to take antihistimine every night also for insomnia until I read that they can cause prostate problems. I stopped the antihistimines about 6 months ago and I stopped taking flomax about 2 weeks ago and I am glad to say I am peeing fine and emptying out good. I did take saw palmetto for about a week tho. I havent told my uroligist yet because I heard they dont like it if you try things without telling them. I think I will stay off the flomax and keep a close eye on my urinating and if it starts getting bad again then I will take the saw palmetto and if that doesnt work I will start the flomax again. I just have a feeling it was the long term use of antihistimines that caused my problem in the first place. Any input appreciated! Dont worry about telling me if you think Im being foolish. PS. I only have one kidney so I want to make sure I dont mess any thing up.

flomax
I think you are right and that is cold meds often worsen prostate sxs. In general if you if you are going to have a problem coming off flomax you would know in 3-5 days. I think your urologist would be fine with you "doing some detective work" and stopping the cold meds, you can always restart if obstructive sxs reoccur. Borderline prostate enlargement and certain meds commonly do that. ps.....what is on the flip side of let it be - the 45 hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? jm
