Stage 4, 4 Years NED
I just got my scan results and they were all clear. That makes it four years NED! If I can make it one more year I think I will have won the fight. Even if I make it one more year without a recurrence I don't think I will change what I am doing. For those new to the Board my program is as follows:
1. Exercise 3 hrs/day (walking, yoga, weightlifting, and running)
2. Mediterranian diet. No red meat, limit sugar, sat. fat, white flour. Lots of fruit, vegetables, and whole grains. Green tea and tumeric daily.
3. Supplements-aspirin, multi-vitamin, resveratrol, grape seed extract, fish oil, vit. D3, and Co-Q10.
4. Avoid stress
5. Prayer
6. Visulize my anti-bodies attacking cancer cells

Congrats on 4 years NED! So nice to hear these stories. I am stage IV also, 9 months in this fight. Could you tell us your story? What made you stage IV? Chemo, surgery? Hope you always remain NED.

Sandy:)My story began in 2008 with a terrible pain in my abdomen. My colon had ruptured. I had a section of my colon cut out and had to wear a bag for 6 months. That was the worst part of my ordeal. Follow up scans showed the cancer had spread to my liver and a lymph node in my neck. I had 10 rounds of Folfox+Avastin until the neuropathy became too bad. I still have some numbness i my feet. Chemo wasn't too bad for me I think my continuing to exercise helped. At the end though I was very tired at the end of the day and had cut my runs from 3 miles to 1. After chemo the PET scan showed that my tumors had diappeared. I had my colon sewn back together. One of the happiest days of my life. Since then I have had quarterly CEA tests and yearly scans. So far so good. My doctor calls me his "miracle man".
