something that I don look forward too!

Good Day all..

hope all are fine!.. well i am here to inform that my dad cancer is back and now he going for his 2nd line treatment with single agent of drug Taxotere.

the latest scan show all the tumour in his lung / liver has grown both close to 4cm. And there some new spot.. in 2005, he was dignose with head and neck cancer and recurrce in year 2010 that spread to lung and liver.. honestly i don know what to expect and since this is his 2nd line treatment means the result will not be as good as the 1st line.

Anyone had this drug? Do give me some hope

regards

    Thinking of You

I will keep your dad in my thoughts and pray that even though it's not a #1 treatment that it works and rids him of the beast

There are a couple of people

here who have had Taxatore.....I think Skiffin had it, and one other I can't think of right now.  Just check in, I'm sure they'll be answering you.

Looks like I might not be the only one here with the nervous clicker finger.....LOL.

taxotere is the T in TPF

    Hi Joeline,

Taxotere the the brand name for a drug called docetaxel. It is the T in TPF, the standard cocktail for induction treatment for HNC patients. Sometimes just  PF is used but studies show TPF produces better outcomes than PF. I've not seem just docetaxel given as the sole drug but given your Dad has previous issues then who knows exactly why they decided to go this way. It may be the most gentle way to try to keep the tumor growth under control and maybe achieve some reduction in the tumor mases. You may also do some research on curative vs palliative end point treatment options.

    Taxotere...

So sorry for that news...., nothing anyone wants to hear for sure...

Myself, and Osmotar (Linda) both had Taxotere.... but it was also with Cisplatin, and later that day 5FU, TPF as Don references above...

It wasn't anything especially concerning, especially compared to the possible side effects of Cisplatin...

Taxotere has it's origins from the Pacific Yew Tree...., I find stuff like that interesting, LOL...

Anyways, thoughts and prayerfs for a successful treatment for your father.

    Best ~ John

    My Chemo Agent Too

I started Taxotere last week. I started with H&N cancer that spread to lungs and bones in the spine (I think). One of the tumors turned out to be painful (pressing on nerve), so I'm getting some radiation which has been helpful to reduce the pain.

Nausea is substantial, but controllable with Ordancetron (hope I got the spelling). Constipation is also big time. Fatigue is moderate for chemo (I guess).

There are a few times on most days that I feel good. Actually good. Most of the day is filled with nausea, so I'm kinda blah. Maintaining weight will be a challenge, but I confident I'll meet that challenge. My favorite food is Cream of Wheat with Whole Milk and Whey Protein Powder mixed in. But each to his/her own tastes. Best of luck to your father and all of us battling this Monster. Rick.
