question about traveling with fibersource.....I will be in Washington DC Friday the 18th - Thursday

So I will be traveling for over 8 days.  My question is:

Can I pick up my formula for my tube feeding IN Washington DC from a hospital? Is there some kind of travel program set up for tube feeders, to make travel easier?  Otherwise I have to carry 34lbs worth of formula across the U.S. with me,  along with my suction unit , my Joey,  my many meds. 

I could have shipped a couple cartons, but I didn't know I was going to the inauguration until the last minute.

You have all helped me the through this journey.  Thank you.

    If there is a sister company in the DC area. When my son had his PICC line we were able to arrange to pick up his feedings and supplies at a hospital pharmacy in the state we were visiting. We also checked with the airlines and they will make exceptions and accomidatations for you. Each individual airline may be different so call them and ask ASAP so you can prepare.

    I did my tx at Georgetown Univ Hosp, the only CCC in Washington (Johns Hopkins is in Baltimore) and have good contacts there. Let me know if I can help.

    As for flying, you should be able to pack the formula in your checked bag but not your carry-on. As for the carry-on you may be able to get away with some or you may have to take only powder and reconstitute. I fly and flew a lot but only tried to get liquid through perhaps once when my scar was pretty visible. Since then not worth the hassle and just finish sipping just before security, carry the empty bottle through, and then refill on other side.

    Would be happy to get together for coffee and a donut (ha!) next week here. My office is on a boat on the Potomac and I go in frequently. Doug

    Liquids in carry-on

    I took a three day vacation several months back to Las Vegas.  I took my cans for the feeding tube in a briefcase as carry-on.  I was questioned in both Cleveland and Denver.  When they made me open the case, I just hiked up my shirt a little to show them the feeding tube.  As soon as I did that, they didn't question me any further.  I was afraid to put it in the checked baggage for fear that it would end up in Canada or Kalamazoo or someplace that I wasn't.

    Thank you so much for your offer! ununfortunately I didn't 

    see your offer until it was too late. I'm planning on going back this year. when I do I'll try and contact you before it's too late (last minute).

     The trip was amazing. I'm so glad we went.

     

     

    We ended up taking all her formula in our carry on, along with a ton of other stuff. Because of her condition we were allowed more than normal. 

     

     

    Once again thank you for your offer of help and hopefully we'll meet in the future.
