ENT Visit

I would have sworn I had an appointment yesterday (that the ENT office had given me an appointment then changed it because the Dr. wasn't going to be there), but when I got there they said no you don't....and she made me an appointment for the 28th...I had no sooner got home, and they called and changed it...why?  Because the Dr. isn't going to be there....duh!!  At least I know now it wasn't my screw up.  I almost skipped the one this month, then got scared to do that, and rescheduled for the 29th.  I can only hope they got that one on the books.

Glad the news is good.  There's no set schedule that everyone adheres to.  I'm coming up to the last of my q six week visits, thank god.  The ENT onc and the Med Onc argue the frequency of tests all the time.  I don't care much about that.  In fact I suggested to the ENT onc we just capitulate on the last conflict, where the Med Onc didn't want to do a PET scan.  Ha, see, I get into this debate too.  ENT wants PET at one year.  Med Onc wants CT at 15 months, around and around.  I finally told ENT don't worry about it.  If the PET is positive what are you gonnna do, anyway?  He had to admit the difference for me would only be in when I receive chemo if at all.  Heck, I'm all for testing, but not when it ain't  gonna matter.  I know why the MEd Onc doesn't wanna do the PEt.  He just doesn't wanna hassle with the precertification.  Coward

6 weeks, 3 months both nice time frames for good news and it sounds like you have good news, congratulations.  Besides taste, scans and appts. might be the second most talked about subject at the H&N table.  Stay clean at 3 months and in between you lucky dog.

Great to hear that news on the all-clear!

Just saw my ENT this morning.  I am 3 years out from surgery and today I graduated to once a year.  I had been seeing him every 6 months.  First 2 years was every 3 months.

But I have to disagree with Pat (LTS) calling him a coward (yeah, we have the same ENT).  Comedian yes though. 

·         Today Doc informed (very seriously) that my warranty for the surgery was up and I owed him several thousand bucks to keep it going.

·         Last time there I tried to bum a cigarette from him after my appointment (I never did smoke).  He said not to worry – to keep business up he was giving free samples of smokes and whiskey in the waiting room.

·         Same guy that right before my surgery – tonsillectomy and neck dissection, very serious moment (really) - came into my room, very serious and said “hope you’re feeling well – I’m great if could just shake this dang hangover”.

I base my doctors not on their abilities, but their sense of humor.  Is that a mistake???

This means they feel great since they slay the beast rather than have pts get nipped, tucked or mauled by it.

but also true, I am sure.  Dr Boyd is a great oncologist, but also a very good human being.  Kind of a rare combination.  Glad to hear your news Greg.  Now, about coming with me on the hike???????
