Joe,
Thanks for the info. This is absolutely amazing! I think I'd be better suited with one of the smaller ones.
How hard was it for you to get your Goldendoodle?
~Cris
If I can ever figure out how to post my pic, I have a mini labradoodle and he is only 18lbs. He is my sweet sweet boy! I got extremely lucky with him. I actually found him in a park. He was homeless, starving, both back legs and pelvis were broken and he came up to me at my sons ball game and laid at my feet for over 3 hours! When the games were over I got up and started to walk to the car and he hobbled his way behind me. I never said a word to him at the game because I knew my heart would be broken when I had to leave the little guy. But this little man followed me ever so slowly to my car. He had to drag his back legs, it was a pitiful sight. So my husband, who was watching the game from the parking lot says "what the heck is that?"
Needless to say we put him in the car. I honestly thought he was going to die during the night. I hoped he'd make it thru the weekend so I could take him to the vet and see what his chances were. I prepared my boys that he probably would die but we would at least give him food and a warm place to drift away. Well a year later and he's still with us!!! I love him so much and he is so loyal. The ultimate diagnosis was broken back legs, shattered pelvis, backed up intestines because he couldn't bear down to poop because of all the broken bones. He was severely malnourished and he had a nasty urinary infection. The vet said it appears as if someone beat him and it looks like they used a baseball bat or something similar. That still breaks my heart and pisses me off at the same time. Who hurts animals? UGH!!!
He and I are very close and I really feel like he was meant to come into my life just when he did....right before I got sick.
He is an amazing pet and he doesn't shed at all! Not even a little bit. My husband wears a dark uniform and the first time he saw Howard jump up on it he freaked out but not a single hair! My son has severe allergies and Howard doesn't bother him at all.
Trust me you would love a doodle, golden or lab.

BillieBillie,
What a touching story. I actually got teared up reading it. Bless your heart that you took him in and now he is your little buddy. I'd love to see him if you ever get it figured out to post. I'm thinking very hard about this... : )

Billie....I am a complete sucker for heartwarming rescue animal stories....and this little guy sounds like a total gem of a pup. I LOVE you for taking him in, getting him fixed up and giving him the life he deserves.
Oh and don't forget the "original" in all these mixes.....the Poodle itself....and believe it not....they aren't near as expensive as the crossbred Doodles. After my 45 years of German Shepherds (or as I call them German Shedders).....not having dog hair as a condiment has been wonderful!! LOLOLOLOL

Figured it out
i finally figured it out. this is my best friend Sawdust, he is a 3 yr old british lab. only weighs about 95 lbs.
don't be alarmed by the colar, i do not use the shock option. when i got him i knew with my pour voice i would have to train some how. work with him for couple days and when i click the vibrate options he comes right to me and stands at my side. i have let him run and hit the button when he was at least 1/4 mile away, he came a running wide open.

I see an insert image button, so let's see if this works! Here are Abby (tabby) and Sam, our two cats. Abby was putting on weight so we got a second cat so she would get some exercise. Now she's slimmed down... and the new cat, Sam, is ridiculously fat! Don't go by the picture--black is a slimming color on him, and he has strategically hidden his bulk behind Abby. :-)
I do the same thing in photos; wear slimming back and stand behind someone!!

is not the name for a county song, but maybe it could be.
Some time ago, we did a riff on country song titles that reflected our H & N experiences..it was a nice break.
I am sure Pat would let you change their avatar to the fainting goat.
Thanks all for the virtual hugs..

Billie,
This photo "so" reflects just how much this dog loves you!
Your story is similar to mine in that our Black Lab, "Mickey" was also a "found" dog. My son, at about age 14, found him in a nearby park and carried him home on his bike. You know, one of those "look what followed me home things". Excuse me, but you appear to be carrying him. LOL He was tiny, dirty, sick, and covered with ticks. It was late on a Friday night, no vets were open, but we had an Emg. Animal Clinic up the street. Over the phone, they refused to take him, but I was a Mom with a mission so I put him in an empty dog food bucket and took him anyway. I simply walked in and said "You have to do something for this puppy. He's dying". They got my drift and although they couldn't tick dip him, they managed to remove the ticks. I had no $100 to pay them, so I called my Mom(bless her heart) and she provided her credit card #. She said to me "You know you could get a dog that's not sick for much less money" and I simply replied "I know, but this dog needs me". We took him to our vet on Monday morning. He had tick fever and the vet said he probably wouldn't make it because he was so sick. But, you know what? He started eating and growing and became healthy. We were blessed to have him as a family member for fourteen years. You know the song "What's Love Got To Do With It?" The title says it all.
Sorry, I don't have a photo to post, just an old grainy, fading polaroid. But I'll keep his image in my mind and heart forever.
Luv,
Wolfen

On another note, I had a friend in the 80's who had a hedgehog.
The hedgehog was in love with the toilet brush, who must have resembled a hedgehog, I guess..
..............about saying Pat looked like a goat. Here's a photo of him by his boat he's always talking about....Just kidding - that boat looks nothing like Pat's rig (kinda liking this photo thing)
