tattoo
I thought I'd show you guys the cool tattoo that my husband got in support of H&N cancer. I go to USC for my surgeon/ENT and their H&N unit has declared the giraffe the official H&N cancer animal. They've taken his long neck and created the cancer ribbon out of it. I think it is so awesome and such a clever idea.
This tattoo is quite the conversation piece too!
Billie
P.S. Matt and John, you're both going to regrett showing me how to post pictures haha

Pharannie,
He is very sweet and thoughtful. He always comes up with the perfect gifts and ideas.
The Giraffe is so cool and USC has it all over the place. Now that my friends and family know about it I'm getting all kinds of giraffe gifts and goodies.
I even got the gift of an adopted giraffe for Christmas! He is in Africa and his name is Sky.....how cute is that? I think a trip to Africa is in order to visit him

No tattoos for me right now. As much as I love this one on my husband I'm not ready to put something so permanent on my body yet.
I'm not against tattoos at all just never had the desire to get one.
As for how to post pics....go to the post about Pets. On there John has detailed how to post pictures. I had no idea either how to do it. It takes a few steps, I wish it was as easy as dragging a photo but its not. Its not hard to do just requires a few steps. Good luck.

You're welcome.

How did you get this far without a tattoo? I've got the radiation target dot tattoo'd on my chest. My 'tattoo artist' told me it was of a beautiful butterfly, as seen from space.

Actually Deb, I don't think they do that all that often anymore.., not sure, it could just be by facility.
I didn't have one or my rads either...
With my IMRT, the mask is such a tight fit, and they measure witin millimeters each time they put it on you before starting rads, I presume they feel no need for the Rad-A-Tatt...
There have been a few tats mentioned here over the years...
Even one incorporating the Phoenix and CSN.
I was always partial to one below, Faith....;
I might do something like this in the future.
Only with H&N colors instead of pink.

Because I had the mask I didn't need to be tattood. In other parts of the body they still tattoo but not H&N. I didn't need my chest radiated so I got lucky.

What is the history behind the cancer ribbon? It there an "official" version, that is color and shape? I was going to get a mirror tatoo that my son has on his arm. It is our last name in Japanese and having it over the cancer logo seems very cool. I want ot put in same position as his arm. Maybe he can have the cancer ribbon added to his so we match.
Does anyone have any idea if the process of getting a tatoo would increase the potential for infections so should not be done during treatment?

Pain of a different kind
Cool tatts everyone!
I have two already. One on my right arm and a mural of sorts all around my left leg/calf. When I figure out how to post pics I'll do so.
Both mine were done after significant struggles in my life. I like the idea of getting another after I get "Jack" out of my body.

It is such a cool mascot for us isn't it?! You may have seen the giraffe on USC head and neck site or maybe by searching and coming across it.
I've always like giraffes, now it just seems appropriate.

We would love to see your pics. Look for the post about Pet's, in there John has detailed instructions on how to post pictures. I found it very helpful as I couldn't begin to figure it out before I read his instructions. Good luck!
