    21-35 days depending on

21-35 days depending on eating and activity. 5 days of chemo prior. Once transplant goes through Counts drop to 0. Once they reach 11 i believe she gets to go home soon.

been there, so glad we did it!

    Hi Dowgirl,

Hub is 57.  He was diagnosed with Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma in June of 08.  His ASCT was in June of 10.  He had 2 relapses before the ASCT but none since!

He had pain from the swelling the HDC caused in his mouth and throat but the staff was on top of his needs the entire time.  He had 10 days of chemo then when all his counts hit 0, they gave him back his stem cells.  He was in for 3 weeks after that and everything his doc said, we did.

His counts went up and down over a year and he is still sensitive to meds affecting his counts but he has had clean MRIs long enough to move them to every 3 months instead of 2!

He lost alot of weight during this as he was tired and lost his tastebuds(again) but I was able to pack on weight with Hagen Daz and whole milk, with wheat germ and banana.  He lost his hair when he had radiation and afterwards it came back but this treatment was too much for his hair to stand.  He has lost it but I have not lost him.

I hope this helps.  you can find other posts of mine re ASCT on the brain page and I will check back here to see if you have further questions.

His was done at Sloan Kettering in NYC. Dr Sauter is the best!

Good luck and God bless you and your mom,
