    It looks like your husband was diagnosed at a relatively early stage and his treatment was very successful. There are indeed a number of long term survivors who were diagnosed at a similar stage. I was diagnosed at Stage IIB, I see your husband was Stage IIIA. The longest term survivor I am personally aware of that was diagnosed at Stage III is a person who is still doing well at 12 years post diagnosis. I am sure there are longer term survivors that I am not personally aware of. There are many of us who are between the 3 and 5 year mark that post to this board on a regular basis who have had treatment very similar to your husband’s treatment.

     So there is reason to be optimistic. May your husband have many clear scans ahead!!

    There are Survivors

    I was at the same stage as your husband and my cancer was at the EC junction like your husbands.  I had combined Chemo and Proton radiation followed by an esophogectomy,  They have not done any chemo on me post surgery.  The doctors say I am cancer free and I will have a CT scan I believe in May which will be 6 months after surgery.

    I do know there are survivors that were diagnosed at the same stages as we have and they are the reasons I keep my faith and hope for a long and productive life.
