bone pain

I am 15 year survivor who suffered greatly during and after treatments which happens to a very small percentage of people because we are just that sensative to anything they do and incredibly even with Cancer itself.  Through my treatments they were just beginning to address the side effects because usually their intentions were to do the treatments and get us through that no matter what...  I had trouble getting help because they cared more about the treatments than what they were doing to me. 

I am grateful I went through it all because my chances for survival were not good back then and turned out to be even less than what they thought at that time.  Yes I am triple negative estrogen negative and had 11 out of 21 positive nodes with a stage 3 diagnosis when I was 36.  I was on several medications after fighting for help for years and Methadone was one for tackling the cronic pain a drug they know allot about and seems to be lesser of evils on the side effect chart though it too came with own set of problems.

Bone pain real, no one should have to suffer is also my belief.  I use to refuse to medicate with over the counter since more natural person but now take what there is as long as never exceed recommended doses something I learned from pain specialists.  Handfuls of pills is what is harmful.  As long as taken as perscribed or on label safe.  Nerve damage and defered pain makes diagnosis hard and maddening.  Even after all they know they still wish we would just be grateful and go away when quality for life is our only concern...

I did not settle for the pain and fought long and hard for the quality that has allowed me to mud and tape drywall still allowing me to do that hard work.  It is worth making people realize that if they look they might find the reasons for the pain.  Depression does not cause pain but pain does cause depression something sometimes lost on our own GPs.

Rose, your post brings up more questions than answers for me.  Where is your pain?  Is it joint, muscle or bone pain?  What meds are you on?  Many meds can cause pain and fatigue.

Radiation should not cause the pain that you are describing, but sometimes many factors other than cancer can cause pain.  For instance, I was having terrible leg pain last year and was having difficulty walking.  It turned out to be the statin that I was on for my heart (cholesterol lowering drug), rather than anything to do with my cancer.

Arthritis can be very painful but if it is all over, you need to see a rheumatologist to find out what type of arthritis and what treatments are available. 

I would first speak with my oncologist and/or primary care physician.  What you are describing does not sound normal and I would seek out answers.

Hi Rose,

I have the same problem. My doctor did blood test and saw my Vit. D was very low. I take 5000  of Vit D. I feel so much better. Not all pain is gone but 70% is gone. I hope this might help.

I did not have radiation and I am not on meds for treatment. I finished Chemo in April (6 rounds of TAC) and I am so disgusted with my pain! My elbows and my knees hurt a lot! I had some issues with my knees before BC but not the elbows. My MO says it is not from the chemo but I say Bull! It has to be related some how!

Please lets us know what you find.
