Still having a hard time getting on CSN
Hi All.
I'm desperate here I'm really having a hard time getting on CSN. Has been this way since my last post regarding this even with the upgrade. To get on I usually google American Cancer Society Message Board and then click on Discussion boards.
However, I seem to have better luck using CIVILMAT's way of getting on which is using my screen name tim6003 and clicking on one of my discussion threads...however even that often does not work.
I appreciate all CSN provides for us, so this is not so much a complaint as it is I'm spending a lot of time trying to get to my online family ...but I worry about those who are new or who need support and can't reach us, or even those who really want / need to share and can't.
So the question is are they still working on it? Is there any light soon that this issue will be resolved. I don't get on or share as near as much as I used to bc I spend so much time trying to get on ..and I really wish that was not the case, so just sharing in case they are not aware, but I can't imagine they are not.
Thanks,
Tim

MySQL errors
hmph, now getting MySQL errors. that's new, so I'll take it to mean that they're finally working on the backend problems.
server issues have been going on since I got here in July, so it can't be harder for anybody to get on now than it already has been.
would be nice of them to acknowledge server issues and announce what they're doing...but that's obviously not their style.

Slow on Occasion
Tim, I know they are still working on things, working on archived PM's an a few other issues. I haven't had any problems lately getting on..
I just have a shortcut to our specific forum, and it takes me right in;
Head & Neck Forum
I do know that I have mentioned about it being slow at times, an the reply that I got was that once everything is pretty much the way they want they'll enable caching and a few other things, which should improve system performance and speed things up.
They are aware anyways, not sure on your connectivity issues, and I haven't seen any messages concerning SQL.

I was finally able to get on tonite....
but kept checking in since this morning, with a "no go" for the answer. Just figured they were down again.

working on the problem
Tim,
Can you hear (read) me Tim, I finally got on. My New Years Resolution is “patience”. I had some really good first of the year posts, but I forgot then all while waiting (you know radiation brain).
The system must not totally suck, when I pass by the other forums I see some have 150 – 200
new posts we have 10 to 20.

JGi too have the short cut saved on my bookmarks bar, it seems to be working the same as before upgrade. sometimes goes right to page and sometimes 3-5 min to get to page. same goes for when replying to post. my feeling is when there are many trying to get on it's slow.
personally i don't see a speed difference other than i don't find it where i can not get on.
as already said, the waiting game still in action and continues part of new normal.
i find myself looking at less posts rather than all, but most of all those looking for help rather than those with all the wonderful news of NED's arrival, no disrespect to those with good news as i am just looking to help those in though times
thanks again John (Skiffin16) for all your help and updates

Did you get this message just trying to login?
SQL is just a database language statement in short, SQL = Structured Query Language
SELECT = you are requesting something specific
FROM= the table from where you are SELECTING
WHERE = the filter like User ID for TIM6003 = 99575
I was told this morning that my email (which linked this thread) was forwarded to IT, and they have tagged it as a high priority.

MySQL is the relational database product that they are using to store our messages.
the connection problem is between the server and the database. backend stuff--nothing to do with us.

Problems getting on seem to be related to time of day? Dinner Time / Eastern Standard Time appears to be the most difficult. Or am I just imagining things? Again? Rick.

same old same old
now I'm getting the same old chrome error again.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.
pretty clear they haven't done anything to fix performance problems, the 'upgrade' has just added a few frivolous bells and whistles. priorities out of whack. seriously, who cares about being able to change fonts, when the server sucks?

It doesn't seem like anything was fixed to me, as adding fancy little things doesn't impress me. When there are only 35 members online & you can't get on or get no response, it is pretty frustrating. I just don't see how the server can be that slow or bad! It is starting to become a joke to even try to get on.

I just created a new post asking if anyone else was having problems. I guess I was so happy to finally get on that I went right away to create a new post instead of looking around. Sorry to be redundant.

does the ACS actually speak?
grrrrr. two more times today:
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.
how much longer, ACS? I'd prefer not to give up on the site completely--but perhaps I should return in June to see if you have fixed this frustrating site by then.
I recognize and appreciate that the ACS is providing a valuable service to cancer survivors. thank you! unfortunately, the site's value is greatly diminished by technical problems, and I am growing weary of wasting time trying to access the site. these problems have been going on for a long time, and they affect many (if not all) of us.
are you so understaffed that you can't address us directly, and keep us informed of site status? please...we'd take it as a sign of respect to hear from you directly. thank you.

It was so slow for the past week I just gave up. Today , though, was great, with no problems getting on the site. I just figured maybe it was my computer.

one minute, I'll can read a post....go to reply and the server sticks for 30 minutes.....OR, it will go to exactly where it should be and my reply will stick for 30 minutes.....and still post, or it may disappear.....eerrrrggggg....ticking me off!!

it's been slow for me the last two days, takes like 15-20 sec's for anything to happen. i get no errors or does it kick off at any time. pretty much the same or slightly worse at times compared to the upgrade.
please everyone, don't give up... be like you were when going thru treatments.... keep chugging along. all those fighting the fight needs you for support, experience and knowledge.
i must believe they are working on the problem
