angiosarcoma cancer
I had a mastectomy of the left breast Nov. the 5th. The pain isn't as bad as it was. I am wondering how long is it that you have to have the fluid drawn off? I go once a week this has been my second time,I had it drawn off on Thursday this is Sunday, I am filling up already, so I know I will have it drawn off again Thursday. My surgeon says it won't heal as long as fluid builds up. I go to speacialist in cancer care at the university of Washington Jan. the 8th. they say there is not a lot known about angiosarcoma cancer. They wanted follow up with specialist. This cancer doesn't show up in blood tests or mamograms. Does that mean there is no way of knowing when it comes back? I am staying sore and hurting I think because i have to have fluid taken off all the time. Has anyone else had this problem?0 -

I'm not familiar with Angiosarcoma cancer. But I did have a Mastectomy right side 2010. You didn't say if they put in a drain or not? I had a drain for 5 weeks. It could be emptied at home. I only had to be drained twice after the drain was out. Once 90 cc's once 60'cc. I wish you all the best. Your in my prayers. Good luck Darlin

It would really help if you
It would really help if you told us what kind of surgeries/treatments you had and when. Like for surgeries:double mastectomy, single mastectomy, lumpectomy, were any nodes removed? If you had any drains placed, how many, and if they were removed and when. If the drains are still im place, what is your daily output? any rads or chemo yet? And where are they draining the fluid from (is it the surgeon draining the fluid or do you just mean your drains?).
The more specific you are about those things, the better understanding we can have about what is happening with you.

I had a mastectomy of my left breast, I had cancer 5 years ago had a lumpectomy and my lymph nodes removed then and radiation treatment. Five years later I found out I had cancer from the radiation treatments from 5 years ago. So they took a large part of my breast in August. I thought I was done, in October it was back. on November 5th they done a mastectomy of my left breast only they put in two drains the first drain was taken out second week of Nov. The second tube was taken out the last week of Nov.I Went back two weeks. after he took the tubes out. He drained fluid off a hundred and fourteen ccs or what ever it is could be mil. I went back the next week he drew ninety five off. I go back to him in four day's and he will draw it off again. He said it won't heal as long as it keeps retaining fluid .It still hurts some and is sore. How long does it take to have a needle draw the fluid off all together?

Kay,This will be my third time I could fill it filling up the day after he drained jt. Angiosarcoma is a rare cancer of the blood cells. I had breast cancer and they done a lumpectomy then radiation treatments five years ago ,and it gave me cancer. It comes out Around five years after you have had radiation treatments. Its rare not much is known about it. The cancer is of the blood cells. Im glad you only had to be drained twice maybe this will be my last time.good luck Kay

Has anyone else had this problem?I had a Double Mastectomy in Febuary 2012, from the start i had problems with build up of fluid. I had the Drains put in three times and fluid drain so many times i cannot count. August on this year i had another surgery to clean up chest wall area, drains had to put back in for about a month. The fluid still keep coming. I had another surgery to open up the incision because i was not healing on the inside and outside. My Doctors put a womb vac on me and 30 treatments in the Hyperbaric chamber. My incision is closing up i pray to God that the fluid don't come back. I forgot to say that i had 36 Radiation treatments because of margin was not clean. I wish you well
