carcinosarcoma
I woke up this morning w/ the sudden realization that there is really not much I can do about this situation, except to handle it as gracefully as I can, and to help my mother in any way she needs or asks.
and, I agree w/ the poster who says this new format stinks. You can't search subjects on specific boards alone.

I have this
I have Ovarian Carcinosarcoma, advanced. Just had my fifth round of chemo carbo/taxol and the scan I had after the third cycle shows that its definitely having an effect and the tumours have shrunk. I had origininally been told that it probably wouldnt respond to chemo. Well, so much for that !
I dont live in the States so cant offer advice on best medical expertise. See link below though.
There is a yahoo group dedicated to this type of gynae cancer which you may find useful; http://groups.yahoo.com/group/UterineMMMT/

That is wonderful that you have responded to chemo! What type did you have? My mother is on taxol/carboplatin. She had one dose 8 days ago, and she has been in the hospital ever since. She has a lot of ascites and nauseau - and had a bowel obstruction, which has cleared. She was on an NG tube for days, and is weak from not eating. She has just begun eating, but it is a challange. Her stomach is very distended, and even though they drained the ascites two days ago, it seems to have come back. She complains of contant pressure and pulling in her upper abdomen. her doctor said it would take longer to respond to chemo than the regular type of OVCA. I have no a patience, and want her better now. I signed up for the forum you suggested, thank you so much. Anything else you could tell me about yourself would be really helpful.0 -
