Scan reports 18 months

in Kidney Cancer #1
I feel so very blessed. I got the results of my scans that were done this month and here continues to be no evidence if disease. This is the 3rd set of scans that have been negative. I will continue with the 400mg of votrient. I am still very lucky to have manageable side effects and will see the oncologist next month.

    Tremendous news!

    Is the plan still to stay on V. for five years? Did you ever determine whether it was the V. or the arthritis med that caused your elevated liver enzymes? Did they settle down after the dose reduction to 400mg and did you continue on the same dose of the other med?

    How has your BP panned out? You had elevation there too, so have you been on anti-hypertensive medication?

    As Ange says, keep up the good work. (Ange, I can't wait for those meds to arrive and your Mom to get started.)

    The last time I saw him, the plan was still for five years unless research shows otherwise. I think the liver enzymes being elevated was more from the cymbalta I was taking. My rheumatologist started me back on the methotrexate and liver enzymes were slightly elevated so she decreased it to 4 tablets a week and will see how they are next month. My blood pressure is staying controlled with Azor right now and I had high blood pressure for a couple of years before the cancer diagnosis, I have been on the 400mg for most of the time and was only able to take the 800mg for 6 weeks because of elevated liver enzymes.

    Ivfour, did you have mets or did you start Votrient after surgery? Don't remember, sorry. The methotrexate is a chemo type med isn't it? My sister in law took it years back. Doesn't that tamper with the liver enzymes as well? It did for her.

    TW, we can't wait also. She my also have to pay a copay. We got the lab results back from Sloans, I have to type it out for you when I get the chance. Still unclassified, bit sacomatoid changes noted also. They weren't even certain it is renal cancer, can you imagine? They also said that both nodes removed were mets but the first path report said only one out of two. The first report said encapsulated the second said broke through. Glad we had the second opinion at Sloans but didn't find out much more that is helpful.

    How are you TW? I left a message on your blog. Do you still have pain in knee and stomach or is it better? And the pressure? Ivfour says her pressure is controlled but she is only on 400 mgs.

    Mets

    Yes I did have mets to both lungs and started the votrient in July after mnearsighted nephrecotmy in April 2011.  Methotrexate is a chemotherpay drug that I take for rheumatoid arthritis.  It does cause the liver enzymes to elevate too but so fear I am able to tolerate 4 tablets of the methotrexate along with 400mg off votrient.  I feel ver fortunate that the votrient seems to be working.  Take care.

    That is great news. I'm so happy for you!

    We know about methotrexate and Humira in our house too. My wife was diagnosed with RA 15+ years ago.
