My deeoest condolences
Karen,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My father just got diagnosed and he is 52. He is a stage III and has a couple lymph nosed involved, although he goes in for the PET scan tomorrow which may indicate something different but hopefully not. He has not started treatment, but will start next Tuesday. This has been the hardest thing I have ever had to endure in my life, and I am beyond scared. What's worse is that I can't be with. I just graduated school and work in a different state. With jobs in my career few and far in between, it's just not a good time to jeopardize. However, if it comes down to it, I will be with him in a heartbeat. It kills me to see stories such as yours. I can only imagine what you are going through. What stage was he when he was diagnosed and what was his treatment path? Unfortunately, I hear by the time a lot of people are diagnosed, it is too late. This disease is brutal and so scary. It's just not fair. You and my family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Alison,
Dad was stage 3, he had the chemo and radiation 5 weeks straight and then they operated, The surgeon told him he got it all and that there was a 3% chance of it coming back, we were over the moon, dad never recovered from his op and we thought it was all part of the process of recovery, before we knew it they were telling us it was in his blood and he only had a couple of months to live, we were shattered, his chemo had shrunk his tumour over 90%, still finding it hard to believe that all this had happened in such a short amount of time, i truly hope everything works out for your dad, it's a terrible thing for anyone to have to go through, best of luck, also i lived 6 hours from dad and i have 5 kids but i travelled back and forth to help him, mum and my sisters with his treatment and to be there for him, i am so glad now that i made that effort and done what i could as i have no regrets, time is precious.
Karen
Also Alison, dont let all the sad stories get you down, read all the positive ones and keep positive, there is always hope, that's what i did when i came on this site before we knew dad was dyeing, we NEVER gave up!0
