How often?
They told me at the Cancer Ctr and I thought I wrote it down.... I'm just good like that.

phrannie,
That is the recipe that I was told to use when I started my radiation. About the end of week 3, I increased the salt and baking soda to one Tablespoon of each in the quart of room temperature water, it helped allot. I would rinse and gargle as often as every 30 minutes if I felt I needed too.

NOT SURE WHAT IS BEING ASKED BUT ******
Someone mentioned Glutamine, si I am assuming tissue sluffing away, swelling, tissue healing.
I am a huge fan of Glutamine, and the dietician that worked with my Radiologist turned me on to a powdered product that I mixed with non or low acid fruit juice, and I will vouch for the healing and other pro tissue re builing attributes it has. I was supplementing with Glutamine every day the entire time I was NED, (22 months) and it promoted tissue healing and regeneration. Of course, my Onco Doc was not at all a fan of any of the supplements I was taking while training in the gym as most of them are not backed by the FDA. I stopped and will stop until I complete the 24 week clinacal trial period, but will go back when I am finished as I know the L Chain of Amino Acids, Creatine, Whey and Dessicated Liver Protien are all goood building blocks of muscle growth, and most importantly, muscle retention while we are all being poisoned and beat down by the chemo and radiation.
Sorry for the soap box ramble.

I used 2 tablespoons salt, 2 tablespoons baking soda mixed into 1 quart of water, so mine was pretty strong, but it helped immensely.
We would mix up a batch and put into empty water bottles that I just kept by the sink for use throughout the day. Shake before use.0 -
great stuff.phrannie51 said:is supposed to be 1 teaspoon salt and one teaspoon soda in a quart of warm water...some people add a little extra.

nurses originally gave me a recipe for 1 teaspoon of each (baking soda, salt) in two cups of water. now I usually dilute it to three cups of water.
after all these months, still go to it many times a day--whenever I need to clear out the mouth.0
