Naturopath tests

in Ovarian Cancer #1
This question is for those that have visited a naturopath. I am going to visit another one closer to home. He wants to run a variety of tests on me that I'm not sure of necessity. An igG food hypersensitivity($219). Intracellular micronutrient analysis (370$). The visit itself wil cost $200. Just wondering of anyone else has had these tests and are they essential? This will be a lot of out of pocket money($790).

    igG food hypersensitivity
    The problem with the food sensitivity test is that you probably have a leaky gut right now. When did you complete chemo? Chemo leads to leaky gut, and when your gut is leaky, this test will show that you are sensitive to the foods you are eating just prior to the test. Essentially, anything you are eating now will leak into your blood stream and you will develop antibodies against these foods. Therefore you will test positive for them. You need to heal your gut before you can rely on this test to be accurate.

    Good afternoon!
    I think the question you need to ask yourself is, how will the results of this test change your actions? Looking at the possible test results, what actions will you take, or, are you willing to take?
    I went to a holistic physician connected with my cancer center. He did not order a lot of tests beyond what I was having done to monitor the chemo. He reviewed my diet and explained many changes I could make to reduce the internal inflammation, to improve my general nutrition status, to improve the effectiveness of the chemo, and to relieve side effects. I'm proud to say I have been able to incorporate many of his suggestions. (But I'll be honest: I haven't done everything!)
    My point is: I made those changes without expensive tests. If the plan of action is not going to change based on the tests, I wouldn't pay the money.

    Thanks for reply. My ca 125 is rising so, yeah I don't really know what to do. You are right incorporating the things this dr will recommend will be hard. Not sure what I'm gonna do. Thanks

    Covered by insurance?
    Have you checked to see if your insurance covers the tests? I have crappy insurance but mine was covered.

    Did your dr recommend mostly plant foods? If you don't mind me asking, what stage are you in?

    No I haven't checked; however I got a letter from the dr office and they said insurance would not cover the micro whatever test.
