Had Lumpectomy 3 years ago Now mastectomy
I had a lumpectomy 3 years ago and now I am in severe pain. My scar tissue is huge. I am having a mastectomy in Dec. they are using tissue from my back to reconstruct me.
Has anyone had this done? Any issues with recovery?
Thank you
Darlene

I had lumpectomy 4 1/2 yrs
I had lumpectomy 4 1/2 yrs ago and tomorrow I am having a partial mastectomy on same breast. They (I) am hoping it is just scar tissue but I will not know for a week. I have never had reconstruction but I am sure someone here will have some input or advice.

I had the same in jan this year I had both sides done it was not a easy surgery for me recovery took time I could not lift or carry. I put dishes and dry foods on my counter tops my reaching was limited. I also put my milk in a small jug a gallon was to heavy. My job is a lot of moving. Pushing pulling. Etc. ii was off work 8 weeks I also had drain tubes so I had to wait for them to come out. My surgeon had me go to physical therapy for 6 weeks after I healed to get motion back it helped a lot. Your back will feel tight after surgery from them moving the muscle. I hope this helps I wish you well. Just rest. And don't over doAngie2U said:Bumping up in the hopes that

I had a lumpectomy in 2006 and 2yrs later had to have a mastectomy (only one breast involved) due to a recurrence of dcis. Then over the next year after that had reconstruction done, latissimus flap (just one side). I followed my doctors orders and healed quite nicely. I am now heading into 5 yrs cancer free, and 4 yrs since the lat flap surgery~wishing you the best,

Mastectomy with back graft
I had a lumpectomy in 2008. In 2011, I had a double mastectomy with back graft. I'm not saying it wasn't uncomfortable, but it healed ok and pain was minimal. They give you pain meds to help. One thing about the back graft that I have noticed is that every once in a while I will get a "spasm" because the nerves/and whatever are coming together. Other than that, it has been just fine.
Good luck to you - I'm sure everything will come out ok.0 -

My surgery is Dec. 13th. My scar tissue is big a tennis ball. I will take it easy. Pain tolerance sucks since chemo.0 -

Had Both
I had a lumpectomy and the margins weren't clear so they went back in a couple of months later and did a mastectomy with a tram flap reconstruction immediately after. I went to sleep with two breasts and woke up with two breasts. For me that was the right choice. My "new" breast looks a heck of a lot better than my old one. Should've had that one done too, only there was nothing wrong with it so they wouldn't do it. Good luck - send good vibes your way.
