chronic inflammation, anyone diagnosed?

It just occured to me that my asthma, prediabetes, hypertension, fatigue and SCC might all be attributable to chronic inflammation. I'll have my internist run a c-reactive protein test asap, but has anyone tested postive for this? Has it affected your treatments for anal cancer or influended recovery and/or side effects? Has anyone been treated for it? Has it ever come up in discussion? Any experiences with it in any way?

To my knowledge, I've never had this test run. It is a known fact that inflammation can cause cancer.

Funny that you should bring this up. My PCP just tested me for that, along with other tests. Results are not in yet. Interesting theory. I have had two cancers.

    Good question
I had cervical and anal cancer. The cervical cancer was in situ but the anal cancer was invasive and affected three lymph nodes. I too have been diagnosed with asthma and chronic bronchitis and have had to deal with chronic inflammation, especially when exposed to smoke or toxic chemicals that many people don't even notice. I am in chronic pain down my legs and up to my neck that responds to changes in weather, etc. which seems to be as a result of pinched nerves as a result of my piriformis muscle which evidently has nerves running through rather than underneath it which are being pinched from inflammation. Memorial Sloan Kettering has a good rehabilitative medicine department, though and so I am hoping for some relief in the new year.

    All the best,
    Sandy

    unfortunately
neither my gastroenterologist nor my internist give the idea any credence saying that illness causes inflammation, inflammation doesn't cause illness. they both said that they'd be glad to test for inflammation markers but that a positive result was expected because of the tumor. I think I have chronic inflammation and I think it accounts for my asthma (which was worsened a hundred fold and never recovered since I had pertussis 2 years ago) and I think that my hypertension, prediabetes and now the tumor are the result of chronic inflammation. The question is, though, what to do about it. I don't know the answer to that.

    Hey Sandysp,
You mention Sloan Kettering. Are you in NYC? So am I. (I live a few blocks from there). I would have gone there but they don't take my insurance. They do, however, have an adjunct Integrative Center on 74th and First which is almost completely priced out of my reach except for two things. One, a free class this coming Tuesday about nutrition during treatment and the other, a group accupuncture treatment (there are 6 people in the same room). The group aspect makes the accupuncture quite affordable. There are several other services there that I would have liked use but they're priced way beyond my means to pay.
