Don't know if I belong here (cervix issues)

Hi, I feel strange posting on here without a diagnosis, but I think I'm losing my mind during this wait.

About 4-6 weeks ago, I had a scary, severe, midcycle hemorrhage. It smelt absolutely vile (sorry for TMI). It was nothing like my periods, and I was extremely sick at the time.

Since then, I get a watery discharge (not bad smelling, but not the usual smell either) that can be very heavy, sometimes soaking through to the outside of my clothes.

I'm constantly exhausted and everyday, I have really bad pelvic pains. My lower back hurts a lot, my lower ribs hurt, and my stomach gets quite bloated most of the time. My groin gets a lot of pains too, as does my shoulder, legs and feet.

I've lost over 10 kilos in the past month or so with no effort, yet my bloated stomach makes me look gigantic.

A fibroid was found in my recent ultrasound (10mm). Today I changed doctors (last one was dismissive), and finally got a pap smear (other doctor kept putting it off)

Doctor saw abnormal tissue with her naked eye and asked if I knew about it. Once I got home, I got a call from her receptionist saying that the doctor was a bit worried about my lump she found, and had talked to a gyno about it, and he wants to see me quickly.

My doctor wants me to jump the queue somewhat, because she wants to hurry this along. So, within a one to three months, I should be seeing the gyno for a colposcopy.

I'm relieved someone's finally taking me seriously, as I have been bedridden the past 4-6 weeks more often than not, and haven't been coping with day-to-day life very well at all. I know I'm really sick, I just want to find whatever it is and treat it!

I don't know how I'm going to mentally handle this 1-3 month wait. My partner has mental illness and I'm his carer, plus we have three kids, so I really need to be able to get up again and be physically able to do more, yesterday!

My partner isn't handling the stress well, either. I'm sure normally, a partner wouldn't, but with his mental illness, it just magnifies it. A big part of his illness is that he sees me as his 'anchor' and feels most comfortable and safe when I'm with him.

I've spent the afternoon unable to look at my kids or be in the same room as them, because I don't want them to pick up on the fact that something is wrong, by seeing how upset I am. I can't look at them without wanting to burst into tears, because the thought of them going through having a mum with cancer is more than I can bear.

My six year old son a few months ago, was obsessed with constantly telling me he doesn't want me to die, and I have no idea where these thoughts were coming from. He's just stopped saying these things a month or two ago, so obviously, I'm pretty stressed at the thought of how he will react if something is wrong.

I know you guys can't diagnose me, so don't panic, lol! I plan to leave no stone unturned, but now I've find a good doctor, that doesn't seem to be such a worry now.

I just needed to talk about this somewhere online, and don't want too many people to know what's going on, when I don't know either. Only my parents and my partner knows about this, so far.

    Tonks,
    I am sorry that you

    Tonks,
I am sorry that you are having all these issues. I know how miserable worrying can make you, and then to be sick on top of that is really hard. How come you have to wait so long to see a gyn? I would think that if there was a visible issue with your cervix that they would schedule you an appointment ASAP. Does your doctor know how awful you feel? Did he/she offer any suggestions on how to cope in the meantime? I developed a watery discharge that would soak through my clothes a few months before I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. It did not smell bad at first, but did after a month or so. I was also tired. I hope that you figure things out soon. Good luck.

    Yes, I told the doctor
Yes, I told the doctor everything, because I really wanted to be taken seriously. Did that with the last doctor, but he barely did anything for all that time.

I'm not sure why the wait is so long for the gyno, I wish it was tomorrow, lol! I live in rural Australia and am a public patient, so that might be why? I also know that round Xmas time, all specialsts are flat out, so I don't know. I might see if I can be contacted if a last minute cancellation happens.

Also, I havent got the pap results back yet (should be tomorrow or next week), and I'm sure that if abnormal tissue was visible to the naked eye, then my test will come back abnormal too? I'm really hoping if thats the case, then they'll bump me up the line, lol!

I wasn't really given any suggestions on what to do in the meantime, except that I have another round of blood tests to do.

Sorry to hear about your situation as well.

    Tonks, I'm sorry to hear
Tonks, I'm sorry to hear that you are having to go through this and have to wait so long on top of it all. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in march after being sick for 6 weeks, lost 20lbs without trying, tired and had watery discharge that would soak my clothes along with terrible night sweats where I would have to get up in the middle of the night to change. Can you try to get in somewhere else? Keep us posted. I know it's easier said then done but try not to worry too much. Good luck to you.

    Sorry to hear

    Thanks, Kimi:)

Sorry to hear about your experience.

I could ask the doctor about somewhere else. I'm hoping she can fit me in tomorrow, because my pap result should be in by then.

I've been doing a bowel test sample over the weekend too ( sorry tmi again!) which has been really difficult. I don't move my bowels most days, I guess because I have no appetite and can't eat much when I try.

I've been forcing myself to eat more for the three samples, and it's like pooing is this ordeal now. Ridiculous. Now I've got bleeding hemorrhoids and constipation.

I haven't got night sweats, but it's great to be able to compare notes somewhere. Thanks so much for your reply.

I keep stressing out, because the more symptoms I get, and the more I google, the more I wonder what else it could be?? I mean, I had endometriosis 7 years ago, but this is nothing like that at all.

    Definitely!
    I'm a little

    Definitely!

I'm a little frustrated today. Rang to see if my pap results were in, in which case, I'd have made a docs appointment. (it's Monday here in oz!)

Anyway, I had the test done on wednesday, and usually they'd be in by now. First I was told theyd be in by Friday, then Monday, now they're not in when I call this morning! D abnormal results take longer at all? Nurse did say she' call me if the result is abnormal, but now it's afternoon, I think I'll ring again in case.

Oh, and last night I started another bleed. Was expecting a period, but this seems different again. Lots of old, stringy brown blood (sorry!). There seems to be some fresh blood too. It's so weird. I wonder if it's because of the pap smear? I was very sore after it, and was surprised I didn't bleed at the time.

I'm also enjoying brand new kidney pains, so that's fun.

The nurse booked me to see doc on thursday, I really don't want to wait that long. Six weeks I've been feeling so sick, I want to get better! But hey, at least this doc is better than the last one.

    A little update: found out
A little update: found out on the phone that the pap result is normal. Did this happen to any of you guys before diagnosis? I don't know what to think. I'm the sickest I've ever been in my life, and it feels as though everything keeps coming back hunky dory, a-ok. I'm not imagining this, so why can't we find what's wrong?

Sorry for the whinge, you guys:)

    My pap results came back
My pap results came back normal even when the tumor was visible. It was normal 4 months before that and a year before that. I always had my annual exam. They tell me I am a rare case to have had normal paps and cervical cancer. But...there are a few other ladies I have read their stories with the same experience. I would still make sure you follow up with a gyn soon. Better safe then sorry. Good luck.

Hi guys, I'm back from the doctor.

My blood tests came back, and I'm deficient in iron and vitamin d. So, at least that part explains the tiredness, limb pains, brain fog, hair loss, all sorts of things. She's also getting me to have a colonoscopy as well as the colposcopy. I'm 39, and she said usually she doesn't test ppl my age for this, but she wants to look into everything due to my symptoms.

I finally at least feel as though I'm being taken seriously and really being thoroughly checked over. Once we can find the cause of the gyno problems and fix it, I'll be so much happier. This doc has really lifted my mood today. I'm still sick as a dog, but not feeling so crazy over it, or as,though docs don't believe me.

    Tonks,
I am so glad that you have seen a doctor and that they are taking you seriously. I hope that some iron and vit. d supplements get you feeling back to yourself again. Keep us updated on how the other tests turn out. Praying everything goes smoothly and all results are clean. (((HUGS)))

Thanks ccfighter:) My partner and I do get upset and angry sometimes when we see what a great job this doctor is doing, because it drives home just how incompetant the last doctor truly was! Getting a second opinion is the best thing we could've done!

It's so nice to have you guys to talk to, and I'm glad the supplements can be of some help as I wait for colposcopy to be done and get results, etc.

needadvice1 I see Tonks has not been on the board for years.  (All you have to do is click on their screen name)

I think any woman here would tell you any bleeding should be checked out, and if you are in menopause get to the doctor immediately.  Hopefully you have a gyn who will listen to you and take it seriously.  Go to the doctor, get it checked out and ask lots of questions.
