Inspirarational Quotes

I just got off of the phone with my aunt who is dealing with a rare form of liver cancer, she had just gott some not so great news, to summarize you either go with option 1 and accept death or go with option 2 and fight like hell for a 30-40% chance at getting to a point where surgery is an option. She is having a tough time with the news and not sure which way to go. When she was initially diagnosed I sent her a copy of From Incurable to Incredable (great read) so now I find my self wanting to send her a couple of quotes each day that will give her hope. We have already lost my mom to breast cancer 1996 and I was diagnosed with ALL 15 monthes later, relapsed 2001, when I recieved a bone marrow transplant. I have sat at that table with my doctor and heard the words you have 2 optiona option 1 accept death option 2 we do the transplant and give you a 30-35% chance of survival... as you may have guessed I chose optiton 2.

So maybe she will get that will to fight through the inspiration of the words of others and mabey some of these quotes will help others facing a similar crossroad in their life.

    When I was diagnosed (Stage IV uterine, spread to chest, adomen, neck, arm) I asked my doctor what my odds of survival were. He replied that for each person they are either 100 percent or zero. Nobody lives 27% oe dies 60%. He suggested I decide to be among the 100% and fight like I meant it. I did. It was hell for a long time, but I had a lot of people who encouraged me and picked up the fight whenever my courage or energy waned.

    I have had no sign of cancer for over 20 years now. If you are a sports fan, you will understand this: if your team is 6 points behind and you're in the final few seconds of the final quarter, and you've got a lotta yardage to cover, what will you lose if you grab the pigskin and run with it? In the end, wouldn't you rather be able to say that you gave it everything you had?

    Jimmy V had a lot of courage, and a fighting spirit. He also had a great appreciation of the life he was given, for however long he had it. I still have one of the Jimmy V scarves, and my hubby has a tie. Whenever we wear them, we remember him and his inspiration to so many...

    By the way, statistically, I later learned that fewer than 5% of people in my position survived. But for me, it was 100...

    Good luck to your aunt. You sound like a special nephew. Keep us posted...

    Hi..I am Kris, and live in Wis. with my fiance' and our furkids, Maya Dog and Peaches Cat. We are Native American, David being Chiricahua Apache and me with Lakota blood along with being Irish.. and we have a different outlook on death, compared with the rest of the world..we also have a different outlook on illness and/or life in particular. I have been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung/Colon cancer, and am coping with it ok for now. I have Colon cancer in 2008 and tho we thought it was cured, a few stray cells broke free from my colon and migrated to my left lung. THat is my cancer story.

    My favorite quote is from Chief Seattle...he says...

    "There is no death, only a change of worlds"

    there is a lot more to the quote, but what comforts me, is that in many beliefs, Christian, Muslem, etc. there is a better place we all go to. In our case we call it Spirit World, where Creator takes us to live another more wonderful life. ONe with family and ancestors and our dogs, cats and horses or whatever you had..our MOther Earth is healed and lovely and you can even drink the water out of a stream!..
    We are all part of Creation so no one is superior, there are no politics, no wars, no pain...a happy place for sure.

    Kris, thank you for you inspirational quote. I am not Native American, but I do believe in a change of worlds after death. I have had two past experiences that have made me realize this is true. I would like to know more on this quote is you don't mind sharing with me.

    I am new to the cancer world and for some reason I am not overcome with bad and sad emotions. I believe I can beat it, but also feel I am blessed and surrounded by lost loved ones that will help me through this cancer journey.
