???? How Did You Get Your Real Name and/or How Did You Pick Your Name On Here ????

I've always loved hearing how people got their names. Some of the stories of why their parents named them are meaningful, some are emotional and some are like " what were their parents smoking"? LOL

And, I've always loved seeing the different names on here and wondered how you came up with them and why.


So, why did your parents name you what they did and how did you pick your name on this site?

Enquiring minds want to know LOL

    I am LMAO at your remark of what were the parents smoking. My Mom always loved the name Alexis, so, she named me that. My name on here is just that, my name. Not too inventive huh? LOL

    Well - I was born in 1946 so no testing was done for boy/girl then. DRs had insisted that I'd be a boy so only a boy name was picked out - WELL they were wrong! Daddy kept saying I looked like a 'Brown Eyed Susan' (a different somewhat rare plant than the usual 'Black Eyed Susan') - so I was his little flower - a brown eyed Susan. Middle name is Mom's name. No longer a brown eyed Susan though - a green eyed Susan - my eyes lightened and by my late teens they were green - very bright green now.

    Son has his 2 GrandDads' middle names. One GrandDad's first name was Clarence (Daddy would have KILLED me and Hubby if Son had named Clarence!). His other GrandDad's (deceased) first name was Claude (not much better than Clarence) - so he got their 2 middle names - Andrew Lee - not bad.

    My brother also got his name from his GrandDads - first name from Daddy's Dad and middle is Mom's maiden name (she was an only child as was her Dad.)

    Inventive or not, I love the name Alexis too! Wasn't that the name of someone on a tv series? I can't remember the name of the show though. Dynasty?

    My little buddy is an 8 yr
    My little buddy is an 8 yr old cinnamon colored american cocker spaniel. My son named her Cinnamon. Within a few years of getting her, we got our first cell phones that could take pictures. My first pic was on of my dog on the sofa and it looked like she was smiling. I named the picture, Cinnamonsmile.

    Cinnamonsmile now means the name of the picture and all the smiles she has and continues to give me.

    I have no idea how I got my real name.

    My real name is actually Susie
    My Grandmother's legal name was Susan, but, everyone called her Susie. And, since my Mom loved her bunches and loved me bunches too, she named me Susie after her. That's why I like your name Susan!

    The 09 after my name is when I was diagnosed with bc. When I first came on the site, it seemed some were doing that, so, that's what I did too.

    My name came from Dad
    He wanted me to have the same initials and by giving me his middle name, it worked. I don't like it, so am just Linda. I chose lintx for the site because I'm Linda from TX!

    I had a Great Aunt whose
    I had a Great Aunt whose name was legally Susie. Never really liked her.

    Nobody has gotten by with calling me 'Susie' or any of the other spellings of it. My name is Susan - 2 syllables just as Susie is - so use my name as it is. If 'you' feel a need to shorten it Sue is fine as it is shorter. Daddy would sometimes call me 'Suddie' and Hubby sometimes calls me 'Suz'. But I will 'get all over' anyone who thinks they don't have to either use Susan or Sue.

    For my real name, Donna I was actually named after one of my older brothers girl friends. Not very imaginative, sorry No drama here. The name I use here is just how I felt and my age when I joined CSN.

    My best friend and I are
    My best friend and I are very close and her kids are like my kid and vice versa. When she was expecting her first grandchild her daughter wanted to have her call me grandma also. While my friend was okay with it I felt that it being her first grandbaby that she should have that honor so we wracked our brains for a cute name for me. We were watching a stupid commercial about faux diamonds and fauxma was born. I actually love the name and now have 6 faux grandchildren in addition to my two grandchildren.
    My real name was a second choice when my dad rejected the name Penelope. For years I hated the name Stephanie only slightly less than I hated the thought that I might have been a Penelope. I was the only Stephanie all through school. Now it is a very common nme and I love it. I also love Penolope. Go figure. My middle name has been the middle name of the 1st girl since my great grandmother. My grand daughter has the same middle name but the Hawaiian version.
    It is fun to hear the name stories.

    My given name, Elizabeth Anne, is merely a family thing. My mother's middle name was Elizabeth, probably taken from the first name of her mother's sister (Elisabeth, as she was Norwegian). Anne is most definitely English. I admit that I like that my middle name Anne ends with an e.

    My name here I drew from my past. My family lived on the Mojave Desert in Southern California in the 1960s for a few years. I also was looking for something that might be a little different. I am not a girlie-girl, and so I did not want anything that sounded too fru-fru. I wanted something that sounded solid and down to earth.

    My parents didn't have a girls name picked out. I was going to be a boy! I was also late, so my dad had to deploy before I was born. My mom just picked the most common name at the time, Cynthia. I am kind of glad I was suppose to be Darrick Earl.
    My name on here is because of my job. I am a Mammo Tech. It just seemed easy to remember.

    I'm also old enough that you just had to wait till the baby arrived to find out the gender. My mom had picked Kathleen Elizabeth if I was a girl, and planned to call me "Katie Beth." For some reason, both grandmothers HATED that idea, and wanted something more trendy, and pressured her into changing it.

    I've never liked "Traci" -- I think it makes me sound like a bubble-headed blonde cheerleader. And someday I'm going to be old lady named "Traci"! Puh-lease.

    My middle name is "Marie" -- when I was little, my mom always called me "TraciRee," which still makes me smile.

    But I guess it could have been worse -- if I'd been a boy, I would have been Todd George.

    I always loved the "Katie Beth" idea -- now that I think about it, I should have used that as my screen name here. I had NO idea how to come up with a screen name -- I seriously didn't join for 2 months because I couldn't think of anything. At the time I joined, I didn't see anyone else here from Los Angeles, so finally came up with TraciInLA.

    Did you happen to be at NWC China Lake? We were there for 3 years in the 80's.

    Didn't everybody name their daughters Debbie in the 50s? Probably because of Debbie Reynolds. There were 7 Debbie's in my 2nd grade class. Always hated it! When I started using the internet and had to pick a name for the web page I set up, I came up with debsweb. I started using it for a lot of my user names and when I found it taken I added the 18 for the day of my birth.

    Susan- My best friend in 8th grade is named Susan and hated Sue or any version. She said her name is SuSAN. So I started calling her Zan.

    It's been quite a while since I thought about "Suzan". We lived in France when I was 6 - 9 and all my French friends insisted my name was Suzan, not Susan. About 20 yrs ago. I had to fill out some paperwork and the person (from France) who was doing it wrote my name as 'Suzan' and I didn't realize it at the time so took a while to get it straightened out once it came to my attention (Church records so not anything 'legal.').
